The idea that Van Gaal has a philosophy because he repeats it incessantly is hilarious.

I don't get the people at United. The main complaint against LVG is how rigid and ugly the team is playing, no style or class.
So in turn....they are allegedly gonna hire Mourinho...who is known for playing anti-football that gets results...

I don't think its them, but the fans and I guess the fans would rather ugly foot ball with results (Mou), then ugly football no result (LVG). The funny thing is Mou hasn't been anything that special since Inter really. 2 league titles in 6 years, his last job had them battling regulation.

A fan's order of preference:

Entertaining football + getting results > boring football + getting results > entertaining football + not getting results > boring football + not getting results

Currently United are at the last echelon, Mou could bring them two levels up

Of course, if the entire team was fit I'm sure LVG would be contending for the top 3 spots. I think at some points this season the Injured XI was actually better than the starting team.

United playing with speed and flair now. Rashford, Martial, John Mensah II and Lingaard all thriving under LVG.

To be fair to LVG he did have an injury crisis for most of the season and remained within the fight for the CL. Had his team stayed fit I'm sure they would be 4th over City.

Getting sick of these excuses tbh, when Leicester and Spurs are 1st and 2nd you under-performed simple as that.

But that's because City underperformed (and they had injuries too) and because Chelsea had a nightmare of a season. Thing is two of the top teams had a bad or even really bad season and United is STILL not in the top 4 (yeah I know it can still happen) and let's not forget top 4 shouldn't be a big achievement for a club like United - it should be the bare minimum especially when it's not even your first season as a manager.

Some of the players van Gaal promoted/brought in might help the club longterm, but in my oppinion that's just not enough.

The difference being that while city had some injuries in, United's case the entire first team seemed to be injured at times. There were points in time in which if you were to assemble an Injured XI that would be the superior team.

Not that it excuses his awful style or wasted signings but I think it should be taken into account.

Martial is this greatest thing he has done...that is it.

Rashford fell into his lap because Martial got hurt in warm ups in Europa league...let's not pretend he gave him a start over Rooney or some other regular first teamer because he saw something in him, he did it in a emergency, Rashford took it and ran.

I'd change Van Gaal with De Gea tbh

It never made sense to me to fire LVG, then hire a manager with the same ego/player management type.

at least LVG was entertaining with his personality and philosophies, Mourinho is just depressing.

Mourinho got Bailley, Ibra, Pogba n Miki.

LVG didn't have this team n plus with many injuries won a trophy n did okay in the league. The work he did with Smalling, Fosu Mensah, Rashford etc shouldn't be forgotten.

I still think LVG didn't get a good team n Martial which was a Giggs buy wasn't the best. If you give him a good Transfer Director then a lot more would have been possible.

With a top CB, CM, RW & ST, LVG could have challenged for the league!
