Who do you want as our next manager?
Re: Next Manager thread
I am quite sure Meyer is a CAM. Rather have Ruben Neves imo. Championship proven too which is far better than bundesliga.

Re: Next Manager thread
would have to get through a lot of running, constantly sprint out of position to press/cover angles and get back in position if the ball is not won
we probably have to sell Laca and buy different attacker who would be easier to fit in Along side Mesut/Auba

Re: Next Manager thread
24 – Shots by Aubameyang this season (for Arsenal)
8 – Goals for Aubameyang this season (for Arsenal)
105 – Total shots this season for Aubameyang
25 – Goals for Aubameyang this season (24% finishing)
79 – Shots for Lacazette this season (PL and EL only)
17 – Goals for Lacazette this season (PL and EL only 22% finishing)
46 – Number of goals Lacazette and Auba could score next season if they can get 200 combined shots and finish just 23% of them
20 – Percent finishing a player needs to be considered an “elite” forward
2 – Number of “elite” forwards Arsenal have now
171 – Shots Thierry Henry once had in a season (03/04 Invincibles)
30 – Goals Henry scored that season (18% finishing)
Goes without saying, but a new manager absolutely has to get the best out of Lacazette and Aubameyang.

We legit have 2 of Europe's most lethal strikers.
This HAS to work.

Arsenal hope to name boss by World Cup. #AFC want proper process & to respect those in jobs. No idea who but not Simeone, Tuchel (#PSG may confirm Wed), Löw (#GER stay likely), Rodgers, Faria etc. Don't sense Enrique, hear Allegri plans to leave #Juventus but unclear on next move

Interesting that he hasn't mentioned Nagelsmann, hopefully we're working on that.

Re: Next Manager thread
Another he didn't mention was Jardim, who should also be a candidate.
In terms of dates, the Italian and French leagues end on the weekend of the 20th. The first World Cup game is the 14th of June, though I'd imagine they'd like a new boss in place before the squads get together and start their prep. So maybe, if we're being optimistic, we'll find it out who it'll be by the end of May.

Re: Next Manager thread
But yeah between him, Jardim and Allegri we have three great options, even a Carlo Ancelotti if it all doesn‘t work out. Not the worst options.
This World Cup comes at a terrible time for us, wish the new manager had more time to assess this team before half of them go away.

Funny how Ornstein's tweet ruling out several candidates linked in the media has suddenly become "whittling down their shortlist".

Re: Next Manager thread
In related news, U23s head coach Steve Gatting and youth coach Carl Laraman have been suspended following allegations of bullying. Allegedly, their antics forced Marcus McGuane to leave the club in January (he's now at Barcelona so not a bad move really). If there's any truth to it there's a strong chance they'll be gone too.
Seems the club is going to hold meetings with the remaining staff about their futures. Bould and and Lehmann are expected to say, but Primorac (Wenger's closest confidant, been with him for 24 years) could go as well.

Preferably I don't see the point of Bould as well tbh. Give Allegri whatever and whomever he wants to work with.

Re: Next Manager thread
Allegri - pragmatic, wants players to carry out specific instructions, very results driven and isn't too concerned with style, more willing to adapt his team to different opposition.
Arteta - said himself he'd like his teams to take the game to the opposition, has learned from Wenger and Guardiola so would probably emphasise control, offence and keeping the ball.
Allegri is a serial winner (albeit with a stacked squad without much competition, this season withstanding) and I think he'd improve this team's tactics immeasurably. However, I also picture him as a coach who would rather established players be brought for him rather than work with a player so that they're better.
Arteta is an unknown quality but from what we hear of his time at City, he's good at working with players and making them better. Sterling is the famous example as apparently Arteta worked with him a lot and the results are clear. Arsenal need better coaching and and I think the club would like him, or any new appointment, to make players better. Guys like Kolasinac, Iwobi, Xhaka, and young guys like Maitland-Niles and Mavropanos.
I've little doubt that club's first choice is Allegri. But just because the club want him doesn't mean they're going to get him, and if Allegri wants to stay at Juventus and have another crack at the CL then there's nothing we can do about that. At which point, we'd have to look at who else is "available". Enrique is free, but it sounds like his demands are too much. Jardim is a good choice, but is he available? Likewise Naglesmann.
At which point, we either take a chance on the ideals and youthful energy of Arteta or Vieira, or you end up with a "safe pair of hands". In that scenario, Arteta excites me more.
Bare in mind that unless the squad implodes, it's very unlikely we're going to finish below sixth next season. So I'm not concerned about things getting worse. It'd take a spectacularly bad coach to inherit a squad with Ramsey, Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang and Lacazette and not finish in the top six at least.

Re: Next Manager thread
Arsenal not close to appointing new manager. No agreement yet on chosen candidate, negotiations at relatively early stage, thorough process ongoing, next week looks unrealistic. Once decided, IG/RS/SM will present recommendation to #AFC board. Arteta among names being considered
