Re: Spalletti returns to Roma
Will be sacked in about 7 months or so.
Roma have lost their whole identity. Football is gone, style is gone, continuity is gone and have been in a transitional state since years.
Doubt spalletti is the guy to stablise Roma. Wish Ancelotti was joining instead.

Re: Spalletti returns to Roma
I think that's the idea of him having a 1.5 year deal with the option to extend it by a year.
Spalletti's tactics in his first stint were quite frankly revolutionary at the time. Unless he has something new up his sleeve this time, he might find himself a known quantity, but unlike Rudi, who simply couldn't adapt to being found out, Spalletti is a bit more flexible. Not much, but a bit more. Tactically, I think he'll bring back some much needed shape to the team.
From a management perspective purely, I worry only about how he'll use Pjanic, but that might be a moot point if we end up selling him in the summer anyway. Unlike Totti, whom Pjanic is often related with style wise....he can't be a false 9 so unless Spalletti plans to use him as a traditional trequartista behind Dzeko, that's a huge question mark. Beyond that, I have no real concerns with the rest of the squad as I think he'll find plenty to work with in players like Nainggolan, Vainqueuer and Florenzi. His use of players like Falque will also be of interest as well along with Perrotti, who will probably still be signed.
So it's not all doom and gloom, RG. Spalletti is not the permanent solution. We still want a bigger coach I think. We just didn't want to go with a 6-month stop-gap.

Re: Spalletti returns to Roma
I am not in a bad mood lol, but i am getting tired of seeing the same thing repeated in Roma every few months.
There was a time where Roma weren't title challengers or a top 2/3 club, but they had an identity and there was a sense of progression (which obviously peaked the season where roma finished 2nd). You could always watch them and be entertained. The prime years where Roma were led by Totti and De Rossi. Their midfield was nearly the perfect midfield with De Rossi-Strootman-Pjanic and attack needed a worthy Totti successor and two genuine quality widemen. Defence was never Roma's specialty but at least Marquinhos and Castan were solid.
Since the last 2-3 years, Roma's squad keeps getting cycled. I mean a front 3 of Falque, Umar Sadiq, Florenzi?????? Couldn't believe my eyes.
Average and past it players like Maicon and Keita are somehow starting week in and week out. Roma are loaning in players and adding quantity instead of quality. About 5 players on loan from all over the world while also buying players based on hype in Doumbia and wasting more money which is getting roma nowhere
I don't even know which direction Roma are headed into atm. From nearly becoming Juve's rivals in scudetto to justh anging about while seeing the likes of Inter and Napoli progress is a bit difficult to see.
Been wanting to make a thread on this but thought might as well rant here

Re: Spalletti returns to Roma
I got you, brah.
I'll put one up. Now's probably the time to really discuss it anyway.

Re: Spalletti returns to Roma
I think Roma's management is doing an excellent of job of fooling their fans into thinking that the manager is always the problem... looking at the squad and their transfers, i don't see how you can realistically expect to be better than 4-5.
Rudi overachieved his first two seasons and he became a victim to that. Granted, he's very rigid. But i also think that he has Roma is currently in the position they should be given their talent.

He is absolutely right about the media assholes in rome that pushing the same points. Pallotta came out to support Spalletti and that he understands that he feels that way.
