We can't make the team tick without a great anchor man. Carlo did but I can't see any other coach make it work.

With Chelsea out of the CL, should we get the Serbian in the summer ? Casemiro is a good DM but Matic is world class, probably the second best in footy atm.

I don't think He will do well for us, i mean he's too slow sure he has great positioning but i don't think he has what we need, we need a physical mid, a DM that has decent pass to be precise,Matic in my book is not, PL is one thing (he's not doing well this season) BBVA is another.

I wanted us to get Javi Martinez back when he still was at Athletic Bilbao, but there is no chance of that now.

Matic has a good passing range and he's no slouch technically. he's not modric but neither is he a khedira. world class defensive mid imo

Won't make a difference if he is outnumbered by 3 players. Change the whole system rather than a cog. Not even Rijkaard and Makelele would have done better in that 4-0 humiliation against Barcelona.

stop trying these guys about footy, all they know to do is name players and watch youtube video, seemed liked only yesterday casemiro was the best DM ever, now we need matic madrid fans .

you see, i can be criticized for looking at things from a myopic point of view, but that's just me. when we talk player signings or coach signings, the fact that a player was crap in his last season, even if its not a direct fault of his, but when i see a player whose team is 14th, 15th on the table, and said player is supposed to be at the top of their game, with a team that should be doing better, then i'm not interested in bringing that player on board

same thing with coaches. that rafa finished 5th in serie a with napoli and worse off than his napoli predecessor two seasons prior, yet we were going for him was something i could not understand, (even though same people going at rafa were all emotional foolishly screaming "carlo out" ). so matic, hazard, anyone from chelsea, no, i'm not interested. i like to invest in players doing well consistently, and winners, not players whose teams are like 14th on the table.

and i know "its a team game", "you can't blame one guy for the team". i want players at madrid who when the team is down can grab their teammates, yell at them, tell them to sweat for the team, and take games by the scruff of the neck in tough situations. i don't want yet another situation where everyone shines against scrubs, and in tough times everyone cowers. the team needs people with the "hate to lose" ego, not necessarily talent

I don't agree with that statement.. Judging players based on their team performance is odd and not looking at it subjectively. Suarez with Liverpool finished 7th yet it was evident he was a world class striker. CR with Portugal is crap does that mean he is bad? .. To me team performance means very little when judging a player. All I look is how the player responds to specific situations and use his decision making.

Not a fan of him. Not really great technically nor is a defensive specialist. Very slow and has alot to prove. If I were to bring some one from Chelsea it would be Hazard. Granted we sell CR atleast and preferably Bale too. If there is one team that struggles with having too much players in the squad it is none other than Madrid.

@adit, no excuse for a player who's supposed to be good/great finding his team lounging at 14th. even madrid in our crisis periods, back when the league had sevilla valencia depor zaragoza as good teams, the egos of the players would never let the team drop to a ridiculous spot on the league. i can excuse a player when his team drops to 4th or even europa level (5th, 6, 7), but battling relegation? that's the person we want at madrid?

granted i know they won't be there at the end of the season, but if you're supposed to be the best player on your team, and they're this pathetic, yet you can't yell at your teammates and grab guys by the scruff of the neck to step up in hard times, what makes you think they'll do it here in times when the team's back's against the wall

we have enough 'follow the tide' players already- guys who play well when things are rosy and malmo come to town but disappear when the going gets tough, we don't need another. at this point, if we are to sign anyone, it should be someone who can be a difference maker....i see how hazard and co play when the goings gotten tough, and frankly i don't like it and i can't excuse it. he's a good player, but his focus should be on improving his stock at chelsea imo....

if he was young i could excuse it, but a franchise player, and his team's 14th? and he's disappearing against bournmouth et al...? what should i expect when he plays the barcelonas and atletis of this world? when a franchise players' team is that low, and the franchise player has been crap, (when pool where 7th, suarez wasn't crap, and he got a lengthy suspension ) it gives me an insight on how i expect him to approach games when things aren't going his way....
