Re: The Movie House - Part 6
Watched Bridge of Spies. Amazing film. Tom Hanks and Mark Rylance were both fantastic as was the rest of the cast.
8.5/10
Definitely recommend watching it.

One of my favourite fight scenes ever. Absolutely brutal the way he take his anger out on those fodders.

Intouchables
Had a movie night with friends and watched again, not many movies hold our attention and we usually just eat and get drunk, but this one held us to the end. They never saw it before, but I have and had those genuine laughs like the first time.
Great stuff.

How fitting is it to star Tom Hardy in a lead role (or dual lead role mind you to double the fun) in a film that is called 'Legend'.
4/5
Clunky narrative most of the time, but its energy and style make it more than good enough

Re: The Movie House - Part 6
You can appreciate Ip Man being what it is, a feel good nationalistic Chinese film, but there is no way a trained japanese imperial general would have lost a one on one fight with somebody doing wing chun. It would literally be impossible. He would have been thrown on the ground, and beaten like a rag roll.

Red seems to like small geeky silly sci-fi movies more than big time movies.

Pacific Rim was a "big time movie"
Anyway a TV spot for Warcraft came out
Looking forward to this. Found it on a Starcraft forum (so, a lot of people that grew up with Blizzard) who were a depressing bunch to read. Glad that so far people here seem to be as optimistic and hyped about it as I am

Stuck at the mall the whole day so I wasted my money on a not so funny Ride Along 2 because the first showing of Hateful Eight had "technical issues" but I'm convinced the pos lazy workers were just not ready yet with it. But have no fear though it's ready apparently and I'm going in in about 30 mins.

Clutch Tarantino. Never took my eyes off the screen except for about 1h30min in when I could feel my bladder filling up. But I lasted and it was good. Far from his best, but along the good company of Inglorious Basterds and Jackie Brown.

Personally I walked out of the cinema feeling the same sense of disappointment as I did after Django.
I always go into Tarantino's wanting to like it too.
Although I loved some of the shots during the intro I agree with those confused over why it was shot in 70mm for what was effectively a 3 hour cinematic play.

Re: The Movie House - Part 6
Saw Brooklyn. Was a well done movie, pretty good overall, but didn't really do anything special. It simply did the typical romantic drama better than most movies do. Great humor in it as well. Didn't know Domhnall Gleeson was in it before watching it, he's been in absolutely everything recently. Good actor though, I like him.
Ronan was quite good.
7/10. Don't agree with it being up there for best picture though, especially with the likes of Sicario not being there. It was a good movie but it wasn't anything special.

First half of Brooklyn was exceptional imo. They got the romance part between Ronan and the Italian guy dead on point. It was actually so sweet no homo.
Second half it dropped a couple levels imo. But still a very good movie. Whether it deserved a Best Picture nom. I'll leave that to the Academy.

Fair analysis, wouldn't exactly disagree much. You are right re: their romance, I didn't find much about the movie very special, but the romance between the two was very well done and a lot more organic than most romances

Stephen King: Idris Elba as Roland and Matthew McConaughey as The Man in Black in Dark Tower adaptation "more likely to happen than not at this point."

Re: The Movie House - Part 6
After careful consideration, i think McConaughey would rock as the Man In Black.
Still not convinced Elba is the best fit (however i hope i'm wrong once the movie releases)

Re: The Movie House - Part 6
I've firmly gotten behind Elba as Roland at this point. I'm letting go of what I've always imagined him to be when reading the books and embracing what the movie's trying to accomplish. Couldn't ask for more. This is exactly what is needed from a diversity perspective.
I still think Robert Knepper would've made a great Randall Flagg/TMIB/Marten Broadcloak, but he's just not a big enough name. I also think Michael Shannon could've done well in this role too, but having seen McConaughey in True Detective and Mud, I am convinced he can do this role well as it calls for an enigmatic bravado of unhinged yet playful vicious intellect. I think he can bring that to this role.

Saw few films
Room
Fantastic film. Great drama with strong n powerful acting and beautifully paced. Really enjoyed watching it and wasn't bored for a second which i was worried i might be.
That kid deserves to be nominated for the best actor. Can't believe how good his acting was at that age. Brie Larson should win best actress at Oscars.
When Jack said "I love you grandma" and then the final goodbye room scene
8.8/10
Scicaro
Quit around 35 minutes. Couldn't get into it as much as i tried. Not that it was a bad film or anything. Just not my type.
N/A
Life of Pi
Was decent enough. Thought it tried too hard to make it a philosophical film at times. CGI was hit n miss
6.5/10
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Only watched it because there was nothing else on and I didn't want to go out with relatives.
Cheap laugh but quite bland and cheesy. Not even sure it was canon.
