The Spirits around the Shankly are pumped up after the crucial win against Chelsea, at Sramford Bridge. This is a good time to play against Kazan in Russia. The funny thing is, we have not won a single game so far in this competition, even after playing 3 games and 2 of them were at home.  And we are still second in the group, with 3 points . So we really need to get our first win in Europe.

It is a bit embarrassing that after games against Bordeaux, Sion and Rubin Kazan, we, Liverpool, are without a win.

That said, I'd take an injury-free draw from this one quite happily.

Injuries could happen in any game and competition, fearing them is not a reason to want out of a tournament, imo.

flying to places like Russia on Thursday night is not good when your trying to get top 4. plus its not fair when champions lge teams drop down imo. the problem with this cup is most of the teams will come from eastern Europe because they don't make it in the champions lge. so its flying miles playing on crap pitches and on Thursday night to boot. far to many games to play to get to the final aswell.

We've got Augsburg in the EL, who operate on a yearly budget of less than 20m € and hence are struggling with relegation now. Still they give their all in Europe, because it's an honour to play in Europe.

Your squad is multiple times valuable and deep than EL competitors. Just rotate wisely, that's what being in different competitions is about.

so playing on bad pitches on Thursday night don't affect your lge form because the players get a lot of money. and our best players are not English so they wont like getting down in the dirt as you say.

Well of course playing more matches, and difficult ones as in EL, affects you.
But that's the way it is, a winners mentality means embracing the challenge.

If Liverpool are going to be picky they better prefer EL imo. They don't have enough quality to dominate games week after week.

It's true that we have a bad luck with injuries which means we have to field practically the same side today and on Sunday. But we have (had) a deeper squad than most EL teams and we should be aiming to go furthest in this competition.

I think other CL-chasing teams like Dortmund, Napoli, Villarreal, Monaco also taking EL pretty seriously and they too have to deal with a congested schedule.

my point is no champs lge team wants to come 3rd in the group. they would rarther come 4th in the group to avoid the EL.

That's a solid team, and it'll be nice to have Lovren and Sakho working together.

This is a team that is going out to win I think. Very strong.

Bit nervous about having Lovren, Allen and Ibe on the same team. I mean none of them have been on top of their game recently. Anyway, go boys...nail it
