Chelsea v Liverpool
They say the table doesn't lie and normally if we visited the 15th placed club, there would be big expectations by us fans to go and get a win. But now the 15th placed team is last season's champions - and I guess deep down everyone are expecting Chelsea to overcome this slump of theirs any time now.
So, what do we expect from this game? Last season a draw from Stamford Bridge would have been a good result. Is it still? Are we going to be the team that helped Chelsea turn their season around or are we going to add to their misery? I really don't know. Feels weird going to Stamford Bridge in these circumstances.
I suppose the latest news on injuries are that Benteke should be available, which is fantastic. Sturridge, well, you know Sturridge. For Chelsea, they're still missing Ivanovic and Costa and Pedro are doubts.
Less than 24 hours until kick-off, would be great if Klopp got his first Premier League win at Stamford Bridge!

we never win this game and I don't expect us to change that. we are not scoring goals and mourinho will park the bus. so that's a clean sheet for them. it depends if they can grab a goal or 2

Re: Chelsea v Liverpool
There hasn't been much from you guys to impress the neutrals since Kloppo joined, not even the usual short term injection of goals and victories when a manager joins a club, so I don't know. You guys look extremely weak going forward, sure you may be more organised now, so things may be pointing to a draw, but I have a feeling Chelsea will win it by two goals to one.
Like you said, sooner or later Chelsea have to start getting something right.

Klopp has been really unlucky with his forwards.
He's had to start Origi in all 4 matches so far.

I think both Bently and Firmino will start. Question is who (aside Origi) will be dropped??? Milner! Coutinho!! Lallana!!!

Re: Chelsea v Liverpool
Lallana is the easiest name to drop, I suppose.
The big question is that if both Coutinho and Firmino start, like they probably will, where will they play? Christmas Tree still?

Re: Chelsea v Liverpool
Based on the first three games under Klopp, Coutinho should be dropped. On the other hand, Coutinho should benefit from having a target-man (Bently) and a runner (Firmino) in front of him.

Firmino is far from being the best runner/outlet though

Re: Chelsea v Liverpool
It would be dumb to drop Coutinho I don't care how his form has been. He genuinely looks the only player to create something.
And unlike you people I don't think his form has been anywhere near as bad as people say.

Yes, he is the only player who can create something. And No, he has been really bad (average) in last few games.Don't call me James wrote:It would be dumb to drop Coutinho I don't care how his form has been. He genuinely looks the only player to create something.

This team doesn't have so much talent to bench Coutinho however shit he may be. Looking forward to to see Lallana, was very impressive against Southampton.

Re: Chelsea v Liverpool
the problem with Lallana is he looks like he is on the ball making things happen. but his stats at the end of the game say he didn't do much at all. his end product needs to be better imo.Pirloisjesus wrote:This team doesn't have so much talent to bench Coutinho however shit he may be. Re: Chelsea v Liverpool
Lallana gave the word inconsistent a whole new dimension . Usually players are inconsistent over a string of games, but he can be sublime one minute and disappear altogether five minutes later .Unique wrote:the problem with Lallana is he looks like he is on the ball making things happen. but his stats at the end of the game say he didn't do much at all. his end product needs to be better imo.Pirloisjesus wrote:This team doesn't have so much talent to bench Coutinho however shit he may be. Really disappointed by Lallana so far and his time at Liverpool. Thought he would've blew up by now.

At the very least he's not as afraid to be on the ball as resilient Stewie Downing. That's not saying much

Re: Chelsea v Liverpool
I would drop one of Milner or Can, the midfield play is so poor, that I want my pick eyes out seriously. I would play a 4-2-3-1 and play Firmino behind Benteke. Lallana must play, he is the only one who makes runs other than a striker in the team. I am sure Firmino and Coutinho will find Lallana and Benteke at the right time and right position. Firmino himself will make runs.
I would actually drop Milner instead of Can. I think Lucas and Can will be a better pair than Milner-Lucas.

the thing is milner is a klopp typ of player. the problem we have and I said this before is we have to many of the same types of player in mf.Helmer wrote:I would drop one of Milner or Can, the midfield play is so poor, that I want my pick eyes out seriously. Re: Chelsea v Liverpool
I'd be tempted to tell Milner and Lucas to stay back and give Can a more free role. Clearly the lad's got talent, but we need to figure out how to unleash it the best.

Re: Chelsea v Liverpool
I mean, Milner isn't going to become anything more we're seeing from him. If anything, I've been slightly disappointed by Milner. I thought he was going to offer more in attack. But he's looked like a very limited CM. For me, Can would be the perfect guy to fill this hole. He could easily become more than what we're seeing from him.

Re: Chelsea v Liverpool
In that sense Milner can do more damage than Can. Can is not ready yet to do that kind of job.
My role for Can in midfield two with Lucas, will be to offer his physicality, hardwork in midfield, offer quick passes in the midfield to our attacking four. Can has better composure to play good midfield passes than Milner.
But if you are asking Can do something on hos own with a free role, I would say it wont work right now. The lad is clearly learning and makes so many wrong passes.
