This whole idea of Rakitic is insanely stupid. If anything Silva is the man dropping deeper often. De Bruyne has created tremendous danger upfront. If Pep builds a top squad at City in 1-2 years (very likely), De Bruyne is gonna be a contender for Ballon D'or when City win the CHL.

The guy is good technically, not like the donkey Rakitic, has tremendous vision, very good dribbler, fantastic shooter, very good passer n much faster. He has played LW n False 9 for the last 5-10 minutes when Pep dropped in Fernando n Zabaleta n he was devastating on the counter.

The fact that we to compare everything to Barca & Rakitic shows how little we know about footfall.

Pep often played this 4-1-4-1 type formation with Bayern.

And Costa would sometimes drop to CM sometimes become CAM. Mostly it would be a 1 Holding Mid-field formation. Here both Silva & De Bruyne drop back but it is not needed that much, you could play with 1 CM as City have so much of the ball & use possession as a defensive technique too n the whole team can play football

No use bumping this. Free cat is already using the narrative that De Bruyne is a scrub that Pep transformed to the Belgian Zico.

Dante is shite tbh, Ribery is a bit unfair due to his injuries, didn't seem like Kroos struggled at all.

Piggy was fine for the first season under Pep, he left because he's now passed it as hard as that is to accept and tbh Gotze's performances didn't really seem to be anything the tactics were doing but we'll see at Dortmund.

Only one that is fair is Ibra and he was great until Messi started chatting lol. Also no manager gets the best out of every player he coaches anyway so it's all a bit irrelevant.

Goetze's performances didn't justify him starting ahead of Mueller. He can't play deeper and he failed to convince compared to his competition.

Kroos is a Pep player. Pep wanted to build the midfield around him. Kroos got greedy and was binned to Madrid even though the entire coaching staff wanted him to stay.

Schweini is past it. He was awful last season with United. A legend, but Pep did the right thing with him--he wasn't good enough anymore.

The reason you pay €80 million for a player is for him to excel in the big games. De Bruyne proved he is a big game player today. Pep also proved that in order to get that €80 million player to play like he's worth €80 million you have to play him in his favoured and best position.

He could have profited but hit the post in the second half. In the first half, playing as CM he was also very good.

Exactly. These are such poor examples. Pep had to bin Ibra to bring out the best of Messi, Dante doesn't have anything in him that can be brought out etc etc. If a player doesn't have enough potential or isn't suitable for the enviroment he's in, you can't bring out the best out of him.

De Bruyne has the potential and suits the style -> Pep makes him a completely different player. If there's a possibility, Pep makes the most out of it.

Can I just point out that not every player suits every manager and so on. No manager gets the best out of every player. Pep is no exception to that. Some players will gain a lot by playing under Pep and others will not. The ones that fit his precise vision of how he likes to play, and have the right attributes, will flourish under him of course especially if the team is cohesive and successful.

Couldnt be more happy with De Bruyne, so great to see him playing like he is now under Pep

Even last time he was very good, and Man C's season went downhill as soon as he got injured, thats how important he is now and how good he is.

Havent read all the posts, but those that dont appreciate him clearly dont watch him enough. Hes a beast for Belgium and club. His biggest quality is his all round game, his incredible energy, able to playing in pretty much every position asked, the skills and techniques, taking freekicks/corners, etc., as well as having the end product - assists and goals plenty. How many players in the world can do this?

Finally living up to his potential. Hope he continues and improves, fine tunes himself even more he would be approaching perfect , and I love watching him, incredible player

This is true? Since I wish he had stayed now Tbh ever since he and Modric joined Real, they have really been having two of the best midfielders in the world, and hence able to do so well and win the CL, etc. B4 them, we always raped their midfield, now we dont
