I don't think there wouldn't be any major signings in January. Klopp will meticulously go through the squad (along with those on loan) and plan for Summer. Even then, I see only handful of significant arrivals and departures.

Re: Winter Window
Assuming that we will play in a similar style to Klopp's Dortmund teams, let's say we lineup with something along the lines of this:
There are a few places that will need addressing immediately, then there are others that can wait until future windows.
The obvious starting place is the "???":
This is what I'm considering the "Reus" role, a wide-forward with the directive to stay forward and support the main striker. To be frank, this is my biggest concern/question about how we will play in the immediate future. I really am not sure who will take this role. It's possible that Firmino will play the role until January. It's also possible that Sturridge or Ings takes on this role until the position can be filled with a specialist player.
My hope is that Markovic comes back in January and takes on the role, as I think he has the attributes to replicate that "Reus" role. The only questions are his attitude and his work-rate. Any issues with both can be explained away by the situation he was put into under Rodgers. hopefully, we will have the chance to see a different player under Klopp. If not there are other options.
I like the shout of El Shaarawy. He has played a similar role while at Milan and even shouldered a fair amount of the scoring burden during his time in Italy. The problem with him, is that he's on a season-long loan at Monaco (maybe with an option to buy?). The best case scenario is that he's available in the summer. This could give Markovic a half-season to prove himself, or it could perpetuate a glaring weakness in the squad until summer. Maybe we just go out in January and get Ryad Mahrez for 17.5 mil...
The other two weak-points/misfits in the squad are RCB and GK.
RCB:
It's hard to see Skrtel as a viable solution going forward. I have the feeling that Klopp will want a CB that is quicker, with better positioning, and better ball handling skills. With the current options at the club (I'm not even entertaining Lovren at the moment.), I could see this being a priority in January. Klopp may be able to get by until then with a pairing of Sakho/Skrtel, but I can't see him keeping it together through the end of the season.
My personal vote would go to someone like Nicolas N'Koulou. He's a composed, ball-playing CB that has been the base of Marseille's defense for the past few seasons. The Cameroonian obviously speaks French and would be familiar with Sakho from his time at PSG, which could help to speed the formation of a partnership.
GK:
This one may also wait until the summer, but I could also see Klopp wanting to make a change sooner. Mignolet has managed to be both inspiring and frustrating in individual games this season. His shot-stopping is sometimes unbelievable, but his communication with the defense and his command of his own box are very poor at times. My guess would be that Klopp gives Mignolet the remainder of the first half of the season to prove himself (while obviously exploring replacement options). If he does well and improves on the aforementioned qualities, he may get the rest of the season to solidify his place. If not, then Klopp may look to upgrade.
With the obvious links to Germany, we'll see a lot of links to Bundesliga players, and that's not necessarily a bad thing, especially in terms of goalkeepers. Someone like Timo Horn could be a wonderful addition to the squad. He's more than capable of stepping in for Mignolet immediately, and he has a much higher ceiling than the Belgian.
Summary:
I'm not convinced that January will be the spending spree that some expect. I think Klopp will give time to a lot of his squad and look for higher-value, long-term replacements in the summer. A loan-cancellation and one big-name RCB could sort us out through the end of the season and buy time to identify and scout for additional turnover in the summer.
Of course, that's all dependent on the individual's performances up to January.

Re: Winter Window
I think I'm the only guy who thinks there wouldn't be any major signings during January.
After reading all the posts and articles, I think Klopp will try to adopt some variation of 4231. However, rather than shoving a players into some position, he will improvise the tactic based on the particular traits of different players.
Like a lot of you have already speculated, I think the following would be a rough formation under Klopp:
First, Lallana & Ings will play further up and closer to Sturridge than a traditional 4231 would suggest. Secondly, I see Firmino growing more and more into the squad/system in the Ings (staying close or inside the box and offering more options) and Lallana (staying a bit off the box and stretching the defense) roles. Thirdly, he may pair Henderson with Milner with the later staying deep while using the energy of Henderson.

Re: Winter Window
I do think we need a class CM player. maybe in the summer if we look like we are going in the right direction we can get a good one to join. consistency is the key imo. under Rodgers we were chalk and cheese from one week to the next. so good players would look at it and think I don't know where we will be next year. I'm hoping under klopp we start to compeat week in week out then players will come. if players can see you are only getting better they will take a chance. well that's what I'm hoping anyway. I know klopp will make things tight at the back. and if you do that you allways have a chance.

Welcome to Goal Legacy, it's all about the bantz bro. What insults bro, it's all been bantzzzzzzzzzz. bantz kingggggggggggg fuarkkkkkkkkkkkkk.
If people wanna act like dickheads I'm going to treat them/call em out as dickheads. Simples. The circle of life at end of the day. You act respectable, you get my respect. You wanna play devils advocate I'm going to call you out. Not sure how I'm "flinging insults" in that last post anyway, I said to him exactly what he said to me why's he having a sook? What exactly do you think he's intentions were in HIS post?
And if you really think I'm "flinging insults with every post" it just epitomizes the lack of badly this forum has turned too. There's no more "football discussion" anymore. Can't even remember the last time I've seen a discussion, to be honest. Idk, ever since RedO's been inactive / taken a step back Goal Legacy has gone back hill and now prides itself on "full of laughs and banter" ffs. Apart from 1-2 posters, who exactly discusses football anymore?
So yeah, you can ban me if you want (we all know where this is going) but I'm just giving back what's came to me. End of the day it was all about dat bantz doe, amIrite?

Okay, now that we're laying it all out, I can reveal that Tom is the reason I never visit the Juventus section any more. I did earlier this year and saw two or three dead-serious posts on one page by Tom and it felt weird and scary. I had to shut down the PC and go for a long walk in the woods after that.
