Gil's reasons are his own but I'm not scapegoating City's and Pelle's clear flopping. But he is considered an elite player in the EPL and has yet to honestly live up to that standards when he appears in the UCL for City. Yes, the rest of his teammates has not showered himself in glory but we aren't talking about his teammates, we are talking about David Silva.

And let's not pretend players don't perform great in spite of their teammates bottling it. We see it a lot.

silva is not a CM player that will get stuck in all over the pitch. he is not a viera. gerrard type of player. if the team are not on the ball and are on the attack you wont see the best of him.

silva would be class for city in the UCL if players like yoyo got a grip on the game. silva is nothing without the ball. if city could manage to dominate a UCL game and give the ball to silva he would show what he can do.

it shows what the guy has won. the only thing missing is the champions lge. and seeing as city and Valencia are his only 2 clubs you can see why. he is not a player that will dictate a game. he is a player that will do damage when the team dictate the game. I think people expect him to be something he is not. his movement is first class. is close control is first class. his passing is first class. he gets goals aswel. the guy is world class

You were asked to name his best performances and you list the trophies his team has won?

You then go on to blame Yaya Toure for not stepping up and making the game easier for the supposed WC player named Silva?

I wouldnt have any issue with this thread in normal circumstances and many of the comments are not unfair, Moles for example.

However, this is a stupid trend around here.

People only pick and choose who "disappears" and who "the entire team played bad, nothing he could do" and it depends entirely on who they like and dislike.

City are rubbish in Europe, Yaya has looked awful (Bayern), Aguero has looked invisible (Barca), Kompany has been made to look a clown (Madrid)...you will have a hard time convincing everyone that ALL of City's players are bad. Its just the way it is, they cant do what they do in the PL in Europe for whatever the reason.

it is easyer for me to point out the guy has won things like the world cup instead of trying to remember games he has played in. yoyo is ment to be the all powerfull MF player that is there to dictate the game. not silva. silva gives the end product. he don't run CM. if you cant see that I have to ask if you have any idea what your talking about.

That makes no sense. Using his trophy list as some sort of barometer for his individual performances is ridiculous. Based on that logic, Sergio Ramos is the best CB in the world.

How can you sit there and say that Silva shouldn't be the singular blamed individual for the teams failings.......... and then go onto singular blame towards Yaya Toure? Do you not see that you are doing exactly what you are arguing against?

At the end of the day, City are fraudulent, this isn't new. The whole team is at fault for its ineptitude but, it is a fair question and critique of David Silva for the simple fact that you can not name a single big game where he shone.

Well I would say that is debatable now since Ozil has been performing much better (effort wise) so far this season, in fact the whole year I might say.

No, it isn't his job. He doesn't have the skill set (imo) to be the guy to stay in the midfield and dictate the tempo of the team. Asking him to do that will result in your midfield to be shamed when going up against the better teams. He is a AM imo.

so you think its not the job of yoyo to to run the game from MF but you think silva should run the game when city are not getting the ball

All of those players are better than him yes and always have been.

But that's not the point, everyone says how great he is yet he never performs in Europes best competition. Ok you can say it's a City problem, but why does none of those players get those excuses? he's the only one who regularly get's excuses for bad performances.

In his defence, not many prosper against top 3 ball winning DM Hernanes.

How is Fabregas better than him? This guy plays crap every time the season reaches it's halfway mark and has been pretty terrible this season. And since joining Arsenal, Ozil has not played better than Silva either. Dumb to compare Benzema to him since they play different positions. There's no point comparing a CAM to a CDM.

Got to last sentence, was not disappoint .

Ozil has been playing well he just doesn't have much to play with Giroud upfront is not sufficent.
