Iker is 5'11, DDG around 6'3 and Navas around 6'1

typical madrid fan(majority) behavior when a new player is on the way, any player in their position is lacking and without that new player, we won't win anything or be as competitive.

no matter how you slice it, DDG is a luxury signing than a need.

I'll be the first to say height isn't everything but De Gea is more talented and can cover more space, so it can certainly help us it our biggest weakness: set pieces/corners

I've seen both Iker and Ramos in person. Ramos is slightly taller than Iker, but he looked like he was just a tad shorter than me and I'm roughly 6'1... so that doesn't quite make sense to me. Either way, I don't think a few modest inches is going to make a lot of difference when comparing De Gea to our current and past GKs in terms of ability or competence. Having a wide wing span is pretty neat, though

You say that as if height is the only criteria Pro-DDG posters are mentioning.

He is a clear upgrade, end of.

he is an upgrade but not that much a difference, between the two as far as abilities goes, i always wanted to see navas start for us week in and out, always felt iker was major part of us not winning much, navas level is a nice indicator to see how many goals conceded before was truly down to the defense or iker.

What makes you think they have to buy Navas? This was a a last minute deal, and they weren't going to go the whole year with Romero starting lmao. They have a full year to decide their new keeper, and it doesn't have to be him.

they will probably go for bravo or something, with MaTS soon to take over if not this year then the one after.

or we will go for Lloris or a young keeper like we did with De Gea when Van Der Sar retired

or Navas will cement his place as Madrid #1 and De Gea will sign a new contract at United

DDG is Spanish even if Navas singlehandly wins us the treble we will still go for DDG only because of his nationality

Lloris will most definately go to PSG, Navas will be the only great keeper availabe to United next summer. So buying him will be the most logical thing to do

Except we didnt chose Danillo over Carvajal. We chose both of them. We need rotation in RB not in GK.

I think De Gea will end up renewing his contract, Del Bosque said he won't be in the Euros if he doesn't play for United, Casillas went to the Confederation Cup and he didn't play for Madrid that year, of course Casillas is Del Bosque's Favourite

DDG has no competition. Valdez has been ostracised and Lopez didn't even get called up when he started for us. Even if DDG only plays Carling Cup he should be called up. But not getting him has put him in a very delicate situation. United will try to do a Bayern and bully him into signing an extension or face a whole season in the cold that is if LVG hasn't gotten his marching orders by then

Man U, in particular, Van Gaal. will definitely bully him and try to get him to renew, but I have a sense that De Gea will hold his cool at least until January. Van Gaal will need him. Romero is not good enough. He may play only liga or CL initially. Actually the best thing that Van Gaal can do is play him in CL even if only once. That way a move to Madrid in January doesn't work as he will not be able to play CL for Madrid. That then makes De Gea available for the whole year and he can bully him all year long.

I don't know where this De Gea being Spanish is coming from, as it is pretty obvious he is already one of the top 5 porteros. Navas is also good, but De Gea is definitely an upgrade. And Romero, is definitely a notch or two below Navas.

I think playing in CL would be the worst thing for DDG because as you said a whole season of bullying can take its toll on players

be honest if DDG was playing for us and Navas for United with reputations reversed do you honestly believe we would be getting rid of DDG and buy Navas instead??

For me getting DDG is just a luxury. We don't need him. My opinion would've been diffierent had we had Iker as a starter and Lopez as back ups though because both today are many levels below both Navas and DDG. I rate DDG a little higher than Navas but not enough to be crazy about him. We can make do with Navas no problem. I'd even be confident with Casilla who I rate really highly too

i think im the only one who says navas is not a level lower then de gea. what he showed in brazil was nothing short of incredible

I think sitting on the bench for a whole season damaged his reputation not to mention playing for a team like Levante which nobody watches. If DDG was making similar saves at a team like Malaga for example I dont think anyone would care

Um, no you're not. I also don't see Navas as inferior to De Gea. De Gea definitely has better aerial abilities but that's about it in my honest opinion. Also agree with HalaAtletico, Navas rep was shot to shit when he spent a whole season watching Iker not do anything of any note except foul throw in a semis.

We have a lovely goalie that even the Bernabeu knows.

I didn't see a need for De Gea at all.. Just another big name
