You can have a forward outlet that can hold the ball up, but with no pace it's ineffective. Think Benzema vs Bayern in those 2 legs. CR and Bale where able to stretch Bayern because of the threat they posed. Benzema held up the ball and they did combinations. Just the threat that they possessed was effective in Bayern being overly cautious. We saw what lack of pace on the wings caused Bayern against Barcelona in that Cl semis in the last cl.
