Alaba the CM anticipation thread
With Pepito binning those two German frauds Kroos and Schweini he finally gets his chance to establish himself as the best CM in football. Unlike Lahm who's deceived the entire world because of one (rubbish) throwaway comment from Pep he's actually extremely gifted in that role.

Re: Alaba the CM anticipation thread
He has the physical tools but his passing and vision isn't that of an elite central midfielder. These crazy experiments only really work against smaller teams, i. e. the entire German league and CL group stage games against the likes of City where Bayern can even dominate with 10 men let alone 11 men with Alaba in midfield. But against the elite it will always get exposed. Martinez-Thiago-Götze is what the midfield should be.

Re: Alaba the CM anticipation thread
While Alaba actually is good at midfield, I just see no merit in moving him there when there's no proper replacement at LB, same goes for Lahm, who is at least decent in midfield, yet playing him there means giving the important RB position to f*cking Rafinha.
I get moving those two to midfield. But it just makes no sense, when you got actual midfielders to play there, and, more importantly: cannot replace Alaba or Lahm as fullbacks.

Wait, so you dismiss Alaba because he supposedly lacks vision & passing technique yet include that donkey Javi Martinez in a Pep midfield?
This is a complete midfield performance. Alaba is a throwback to the days of Lothar Matthaus son.

I think Bernat moves to LB permanently & Lahm should too but apparently he's on record saying he prefers playing in midfield as apposed to his natural fullback position. If he indeed said that then Pep only has himself to blame after that stupid "most intelligent player" quote.

Bernat is shit at defending though, I see him more as a classical LM that has shit finishing.

GTFO you racist.
Alaba defo has the vision and ESPECIALLY the passing range for midfield.
SMH.
But Gil needs to GTFO hyping my boy, because people will start rating him less.
I'm the #1 Alaba fan here.

Fußball's right, these experiments tend to do well against novices. and javi martinez is listed probably as a defensive mid more-so than a central mid, to do the dirty work i think

Re: Alaba the CM anticipation thread
Obviously when I think of Martinez I'm thinking of him at the base of a 3 man midfield as a defensive midfielder and not as a central midfielder.

---Boateng---Hummels---Alaba(B2B CB, covers LB when def)
------Lahm----Javi-----Thiago
--Robben------Gotze------Reus

4-3-3 shape when defending.

86, enough to play B2B false CB defending LB.

Best to keep Lahm in the middle imo, Robben needs to stay wide so he can dribble and cut in.

Re: Alaba the CM anticipation thread
Without Lahm they can't really play 3 at the back imo, need someone covering RB when defending. Plus Lahm is good as a poor mans Xavi with defensive ability.
