Re: Pre-Season 2015/16
Adelaide's scooped pass to almost set up a goal during today's training session:

He's got the tekkers, this dude!No wonder AW has high hopes on him.Definitely in the line for COC starts I guess and then once we get eliminated from it,he'll probably get loaned for the second half.
To think he might be better than Zelalem or Crowley if not as equally good as them. We've got a very good crop of youngsters coming up.

Let's not jinx that - I still harbor sorrow over dem Frimpong and Lansbury days - especially the latter, thought he'd be Ljunburg's heir and stuff
We were as excited about Crowley when we signed him and Gedion last summer. It's almost 3 years before we're seeing the potential that even Ox showed when we signed him!
This kid looks like a Viera-Henry lovechild and it would be great to see him star for the next decade or something, but until it actually happens.......

He addresses that to all managers and journalists who want to compare pragmatically. Reading the full transcript, and those quotes in context, it is not even close to how media has mutated it.

I had already read it before you posted it and, no, he specifically called out Arsenal.
"Every club is a club and we don’t need to speak about them but if you add up the amounts clubs have spent in the last three or four years, I think maybe you will find a surprise.
If you put (Mesut) Ozil plus Alexis Sanchez, plus (Calum) Chambers, plus (Mathieu) Debuchy you will maybe find a surprise."

What do you make of Manchester City’s signings and their response to losing the title?
I think everyone is buying well, there is no reason to buy bad. When you have big money to spend there is no reason to buy bad, you buy good players and you always buy well. After that there is the unpredictability of the game. Sometimes you buy a fantastic player and for some reason he doesn’t play so good as you would have expected. But no big player (club) with a lot of money buys bad players. Everybody is buying very well.
Arsenal have only bought your second choice goalkeeper and seem happy. Are you surprised by that?
I think they bought a fantastic goal-keeper and that is a position which is very important in a team. Every club is a club and we don’t need to speak about them but if you add up the amounts clubs have spent in the last three or four years, I think maybe you will find a surprise.
If you put (Mesut) Ozil plus Alexis Sanchez, plus (Calum) Chambers, plus (Mathieu) Debuchy you will maybe find a surprise. It’s a fantastic squad; lots and lots of good players, a fantastic goal-keeper. I think they are more than ready to be a title contenders.
Should Arsene Wenger expect to challenge to win the league this year?
I think everyone of us. We have five teams who will play for the title, only one will win and one of us will be playing Europa League in two years. That is the reality: five teams for one title and five teams for four Champions League positions. Only one will be champion and one in Europa league .
Do Arsenal get away with the idea that they don’t spend big money?
This is the easiest thing to do – I don’t do it. Get a calculator. That is the easiest things, it leaves no space for speculation. If you want to be honest, objective and pragmatic it is the easiest job for a manager or journalist to do. If a manager is interested he can do it. I am not. But Diego Costa plus, Fabregas plus Begovic; Schneiderlin plus; Alexis Sanchez plus this one; Benteke plus Balotelli plus this one. It is easy and objective.

Re: Pre-Season 2015/16
I don't see why you're quoting an article I've already read lol.
Yes, he was asked about our transfer activity and Petr Cech and he insinuates that we've been big spenders as of late. The 'calculator' and adding up of the names show as much. If you'd read what he said the other day about rivals 'trying to buy the title' you'd see his mentality and the image he's trying to create about the Premier League now that Chelsea have started to be a bit more prudent and, conversely, we've been able to flex our financial muscle.
He knows what he said and Wenger got disrespected by him to a ridiculous degree last year for saying much less.

I quoted it to clarify the context that I was referring to - the point being he was specifically asked about Arsenal. He didn't, in this particular instance, obsess with Arsene/Arsenal. Till that point in the interview, there is no mention of any club in particular.
I did read the other comments as well. And in general, he is a c*nt and I hate him to no end. But this was in way worse than 'voyeur' or 'specialist in failure'. If anything, it has been a lot of headline manipulation and click-baiting yellow journalism - which is what disgusts me more than Mourinho does.
I am not refuting your point, but explaining my perspective on the matter. For more, here's what Arseblog had to say on this. And I found myself agreeing completely with the assessment, therefore I quote it even though you and others in the forum may already have read it:
Arseblog wrote:Morning all. You know we’re on the cusp of a new season when the headlines try to create dramas and tensions from very little.
If you’re a regular reader of this site you’ll know that Jose Mourinho is far from my favourite person. If he could be trapped in a giant spinning mirror and sent into space like General Zod I’d be all for it. In fact, if somebody wanted to set up a Kickstarter to create that technology I’d happily donate. He does and says things which are tedious, irritating and hypocritical.
But I’m struggling to get bent out of shape by the latest comments in which he points out we’ve spent some money, have a ‘fantastic squad with good players, fantastic goalkeeper’, and that ‘they are more than ready to be a title contenders.’
‘Jose Mourinho jabs Arsene Wenger over Arsenal’s transfer spending’ – says The Mirror. No, no he doesn’t. If anything he’s taking a pop at the media. Other examples of how his comments have been portrayed:Mourinho turns up the heat on Wenger
Mourinho, Wenger feud continues
Chelsea boss takes aim at Wenger over spending
Mourinho in Wenger dig
And so on. And look, Mourinho isn’t in any position to talk about anybody spending money given what he’s done at Chelsea, and elsewhere, down the years, especially when you look at where the Chelsea cash came from, but this is all pretty desperate stuff. You can be quite sure as the season goes on there’ll be something going on between the two managers that’s worth some serious headlines, but this really isn’t it.
Especially as he’s not responding to anything that our manager has said. If he’d made comment about how much money Chelsea have spent, then he might have been inclined to take a pop, but these are innocuous comments that have been blown out of all proportion. It’s almost as if there’s some desire to make a story seem more interesting than it actually is. I can’t imagine why they would do that though – certainly not when Arsenal have a pre-Community Shield press conference today at which they can stir things further.
Whatever their reasons though, I wish them festering boils on their sensitive bits for making me write something about Mourinho that might be construed as a defence of him. So, just to make it clear, this is a criticism of the reporting and not, I repeat NOT, any kind of Mourinho advocacy.

I agree with Sri (and Arseblog, by extension). Compared to some other things Mourinho has said, this is relatively tame and barely a jab at all. It's nothing to get worked up over at all.

Not getting riled up whatsoever and I know how the comments are relative to the worse jibes (which I referenced). But don't pretend he's naive enough to say things about Arsenal and not be able to anticipate the way it's going to be portrayed or even misconstrued by the media.
And this is what I said about it just so we're all clear lol.

I'm just glad we are relevant enough to be included in these 'games' before the season has started unlike recent years where we had the "Who's leaving now" thing going on.

any reason why Bellerin shouldn't keep his place?
Debuchy will still get enough games throughout the season
but would like Bellerin play week in week out and keep developing

Re: Pre-Season 2015/16
Think Debuchy will have an edge due to his experience. Besides, we barely got to see him play!
However, by the end of the season, it could well be a situation like Gibbs/Nacho at LB - form and fitness playing a role in who gets picked.
The underlying assumption, of course, if that Bellerin doesn't have them second-season-jeebies and performs like he did in his breakout season.

I think Debuchy still deserves his chances no doubt, but I think Wenger will go with form at this moment of time. And Bellerin a good end to last season.

There isn't any reason at all for dropping Bellerin, he should be first choice... I really don't care about Debuchy's "experience", Bellerin is better right now and isn't coming off long injuries.
Bellerin is better in literally every aspect of the game but heading and that's not reason enough to start.

Re: Pre-Season 2015/16
Based on pre season sofar, my 1st choice on the flank is Bellerin & Nacho, they both did better than their compettitors, defensively and ofensively. It's good problem to have though, it's up to Debuchy and Gibbs to dismantle those two.
Another one affected by this is Chambers who will have even less playing time now that he's locked out off the wings and 4th choice CB.
