RIP Internet Explorer
You've probably already heard about this over the last couple of months, but now it's official. Beginning with Windows 10, Project Spartan will be the new default browser for Windows. Microsoft have already confirmed that it won't retain its current name though. As for Internet Explorer? Version 11 will remain available on Win 10 for those who want to use it. It just won't be the default.

Anyone else immediately think of Halo when they heard the term "Spartan"?

Became a laughing stock in the latter years but it was quite efficient during its prime. When nothing worked on firefox, it worked on IE lol.
Interesting to see how Project Spartan does though. I don't believe they have completely made a new browser. It's going to retain a lot from IE most probably. We'll find out I guess.

Re: RIP Internet Explorer
I think everyone who has ever used Internet has used Internet Explorer. But it is time for it to go.

Credit where its due, When Firefox and Chrome crashed, IE was always there to support me, Help me find the problems and get them working again and then silently going back to obscurity without any love.
Gone but will be never forgotten.

It's a smart strategy. If you get everyone on Win 10 then you create the perception that you are outdated if you don't have it, so people that have been holding on to Vista and 7 will update (usually also the machine, creating demand for new laptops/dekstops). Likewise for businesses that sometimes skip over a generation or two. Also it gets everyone on the Windows 10 Store ecosystem, making it more successful, and giving Microsoft a cut in those transactions.

Of course this all assumes Win 10 isn't another ME, Vista or Win 8 (pre 8.1).

Once the Farrah Fawcett of web browser, standing in a class of its own, it's now been reduced to Kris Jenner; only tolerated to get closer to the younger, better relative
