This is sort of a guess the future thread, a game like post, and probably bump it when time comes, but which players from current squad or even from other squads do you see featuring for us in 5 years time?

Since Odegaard is official, do you see him as starter in 5 years(21yo)?

Varane won't leave and Marcelo will be a starter at 31 IMO

I agree Marcelo will still be starting. Unfortunately the full back positions have always been lacking & I don't see any great emerging young talent. Varane will also still be here. Slowly but surely the old guard is being faded out & his time will come. I don't think from a business stand point or a footballing one it makes sense to sell him and I think Perez recognises that.

As for Odegaard, I think he'll surprise people.
Ever heard of Daniel Opare? Some wunderkind we signed a few years ago & he's just disappeared within Castilla.
I think he'll be in the first team squad this season, coming on every now & then when games are won. I think the best way of developing him is by having him play with the likes of Isco, Kroos, etc. If he doesn't impress as much loan him out in the summer ala Casamiro.
I read that his dad has been given a job as a youth coach, I really hope that just because of that they don't send him to Castilla/RMC

It's impossible to know what will happen by 2018/19 ... just look at our squad in 09-10 and look at it now. I agree that the squad we have now is better than the one from 09-10, but still it's hard to predict this.

I'd like to see something like this

Guess we are strengthening Castilla a lot these days. Reports say that we follow Hachim Mastour from AC Milan, Augusto Batalla from River Plate. And with Odegaard and Asensio already done, Castilla will be back to Segunda in no time.... or they will vanish like few others have done, like Opare, or the future LB Marcos Alonso, or Drenthe, Sarabia, and few others.

We aren't a club that waits for a player to develop, that is why I fear for Odegaard.

Odegaard is fantastic. If he works hard and realizes his potential we have an offensive version of Varane in our hands.
