Re: Can Varane grabs Carvalho's starting spot ?
anyways im sure varane will get playing time. the most dangerous player to us when playing against barcelona was albiol guys, i say varane cant do worst.
if mou needs experience during a match where he needs an extra cb, bring in varane, or that may not be needed since carvalho will get benched by ramos, but id say bring varane when you want to rest someone. you want to MAKE him EXPERIENCED, MAKE him RELIABLE.
this is a mou signing, he wont bench like canales.

He's staying folks. His rating will be one higher than indicated above. With the yellow cards that Ramos and Pepe and even Carvalho get there will be lots of time for him to get the growing playing time he needs. Also just practicing with the likes of Carvalho, Pepe and Ramos will help in his development. Albiol is the one that will get very limited time this year.

Thank god about Albiol because i find myself cursing a lot when he plays.

Doc, I've been back for a couple of days now. See my thread re experienced predictions. I think all the mysteries are almost all solved with the exception of whether or not Aguero is coming and when (I don't think there is a question of if) is Neymar coming (this year or next). Also I have given my view of starting line-up in that thread as well.
I'm now just impatient for the new season to begin!!!!!

LOL, interesting they both get action with their national teams. We must be seeing something their national team coaches don't!! I'm spanish and I worry about our CBs. Puyol and Marchena are done after next Euro leaving us only Pique and Ramos (he will convert full time to CB once Puyol goes) and regretably Albiol as back-up. We definitely need some of the younger players (i liked both CBs on U21 team) to step up.

Varane grabs Carvalho starting spot? Not this season, Carvalho will still be boss this season. And if he couldn't make it due to injured, fatigue, or suspended, I think Mourinho would rather moves Ramos to CB and maybe even play Albiol ahead of him. For the shake of his development, I hope we just loan him. Phisically he lookes quote mature though, unlike Canales.

Re: Can Varane grabs Carvalho's starting spot ?
After yesterday's supercup 2nd leg one thing i am certain about is varane should start ahead of carvalho despite his inexperience because very few team at the moment can match real in la liga or Europe. So if he need any kind of protection our team can give that. Although i don't think he need any kind of protection because if our preseason suggests anything that would be despite his tender age his tender age he is smart enough mature enough and talented enough to go against anybody in the world.

Re: Can Varane grabs Carvalho's starting spot ?
varane and carvalho cancel out each other in a way.
varane is missing the experience carvalho has
but carvalho is missing the physical ability that varane has.
still they are both not "complete" in the sense, but id go with giving varane big time against la liga teams and cl group stage teams.

Re: Can Varane grabs Carvalho's starting spot ?
Varane is young and inexperienced butin terms of his maturity reading of the game and ability he is way ahead of his time and the way carvalho was struggling with the pace i say varane should start. Besides with our current group of players we can overpower most of the teams in la liga and cl. So i would say varane is a safe bet.

going to be a great CB but he is just not ready for barca yet. too young imo not enough caps under the belt yet.

Barca or any other pressure game. We have to bring him in smartly.

Re: Can Varane grabs Carvalho's starting spot ?
I agree we have to bring him smartly but we can overpower most of the la liga teams and most of teams or all the teams in group stage of cl depending on whom we get. So i don't understand why can we put in our starting XI which also give him some much needed experience.
