not really .
all Roma needed after that bayern trashing was win against a team they already beat 5-1 and get a draw at home against a team they already drew away .
olympiakos looked like a live dog in that group . and even in the final game , juventus losing to atleti and olympiakos winning and going through remained a probable outcome .
Olympiakos were there for the taking. They were a live dog but only at home cos they were piss poor team away from home.We should've smashed them by a tennis scoreline or something but our finishing let us down again.Had Vidal not missed that peno in injury time,we wouldnt have been even discussing the probable outcome of the last game.
Juve always looked like they were going through after the away win at Malmo.Even in the last game,Juve looked comfortable enough, they were barely troubled.

The fact that Basel get Porto hurts even more to get knocked by them. Jesus, Brenda has got the Moyesiah curse big time.

Re: Champions League: Last 16 Draw and Discussion
I am glad we avoided Bayern and Madrid lol.
Monaco is not easy as no team in CL is easy. We drew at home to Anderlecht ffs.
Monaco will be tricky but I will be really pissed if we don't go through. However if there is a team that will cock up against them, it's us
PSG Vs Chelsea,Barca Vs City and Juve vs Dortmund are probably the best fixtures for neutrals

Olympiacos were one of the best teams to fail to get through to the Ro16. They gave Atletico and Juve, the champions of Spain and Italy respectively, plenty of trouble and they didn't park the bus either. At no point were Olympiacos there for the taking against Juve - both Atletico (4-0) and Malmo (2-0) recorded bigger wins over Olympiacos than Juve (3-2). I think that Juve were seriously threatened after they lost away in Greece and at that stage their progression to the next stage was in doubt.
Juve narrowly avoided a repeat of last season where they should've easily progressed in a group with only 1 other big club and 2 teams that were apparently there just to make up the numbers. Let's not pretend that Juve progressed easily this season either. The reality is that Olympiacos finished one solitary point behind Juve in the group standings.
I don't even particularly like Olympiacos, but it is unjust to discount the good work of Dominguez, Afellay, Fuster, Maniatis, Roberto, Mitroglou and their coach, Michel. Had they won what was their easiest away game on paper at Malmo, they would've gone through.

Re: Champions League: Last 16 Draw and Discussion
Agree with MT somewhat. Most ties we have seen recently. My predictions.
PSG to convincingly win first leg. Sportsczy will get banned for gratuitous celebration (which involves calling Gil a bellend). Chelsea will turn the tie around with ease in the second leg. Sportsczy's ban lifted but no one will notice.
Madrid to ROFLstomp Schalke. RWO will gleefully bump Di Matteo sack watch thread only to be attacked by Shed and Arq. RWO bans Casciavit for agreeing with Shed. Ronaldo will get 3 penalties in the two matches which will prompt jiopsi to makes Scandal thread number 32653463 and he era adjustment stat 2.0 (groundbreaking new version adds negative points for dives made by Portugese players, penaldos and adds wide assists for Argentines who are under 5 feet) for the one week difference between the Barca game and Madrid game will prove that Messi's stats are higher than Ronaldo.
Barca vs Man City, BarcaWinsLol. Messi gets 10 on WhoScored.com while we can all hear Nasir typing away his rant on Yaya being outpaced by Mascherano from the Emptihad stands through our TV.
Monaco vs Arsenal. Monaco wins first leg. Claude vs Ty TLC match outside the stadium. Dnmac is triumphant, saying he was right about Wilshere all along. Arsenal wins 2nd leg. ArsenalFanTV post match gets 0 views. RG praises Wilshere and compares his injury history with Riquelme. Dnmac laughs at RG, saying he's deluded to think Wilshere is better than Riquelme.
BVB vs Juventus. Dortmund wins both legs. Milan fans have a laugh while Juve fans all laugh at the irony of Milan fans laughing at CL teams. We all laugh. Except for Inter fans. Cus Inter is shit. The end.
Bayern Munich vs Shakhtar Dontesk. Bayern convincingly wins. Neuer does a tackle on the halfway line which infuriates Valkyrja for some reason who says that Neuer is not the best keeper in the world as De Gea, Buffon and Marcelo were all better than him this season.
FC Porto vs FC Basel. Mole watches this game over all other games. RWO is secretly laughing at the fact that the whole forum will look like fools when Basel wins. Basel loses.
Atletico Madrid vs Bayer Neverkusen. Neverkusen gonna Neverksuen. Atletico wins while somehow giving RKOs to all 11 players of Neverkusen #thuglife
