Why couldn't it be from a better source ??? BTW, Neto isn't any better than Mignolet .Fahim89 wrote:Borussia Dortmund are ready to listen to offers for Ilkay Gundogan, with Liverpool leading the chase (Express)

Re: Winter is Coming
Wrong thread.
But only really often repeated link I'm seeing everywhere is Shaqiri. Seems at least somewhat legit, though I don't think he's what we need unless we're converting Sterling to striker permanently.

One player I wish look into once Gerrard leaves is Khedira but that's in the Summer. He will be 28 than and would still be able to give us 2-3 brilliant years a sort of CM BR would like within his team.

Swiss newspaper Blick claims Shaqiri's decision is imminent and that Inter have 'no chance' if #LFC come in with their financial strength.

Liverpool are considering a move to sign Valencia striker Paco Alcacer, who has £14m release clause in his contract. (Marca)

Re: Winter is Coming
In the end it comes down to where Shaqiri wants to go.
We have a history of letting players that have become surplus to requirement leave to where they want even if there are financially better offers from other clubs.
Gomez to Fiorentina for 14m € comes to mind.

Re: Winter is Coming
Really hope he joins us, but after his signing (if he does decide to sign) we need to look above.
Shaqiri is no doubt talented, but he doesn't have much experience on his side. Pretty much a "Sturridge" type signing I guess. Some what "mature age" but not much experience to his name.
----------------
We went from TOO MUCH experience in Rodgers first season to absolutely pretty much none now...
Kuyt/Maxi (although they were pretty much gone b4 Rodgers signed), Reina's gone, Carragher's gone, Agger's gone, Suarez is gone, Johnson has declined, Skrtel's declined, Leiva looked like he was going to get pushed out of the club earlier this season.... hopefully he stays, and now Gerrard's going. Who's left? Henderson? He's pretty much a kid. Definitely has passion but is he a "leader"???
We need to look to sign mature players. And by mature players I meant 24-27. We need to start signing players that are ready. Players that are actually genuinely quality, and stop with this build for the future shit.
Really hope we had a leader in this committee to be honest. :S

Re: Winter is Coming
Have we been linked with ANY strikers so far??? Shaqiri could be a great buy, but that's a spot we are sufficiently covered. Goal-scoring on the other hand...
Pray for Sturridge.

Re: Winter is Coming
The Reds are prepared to pay up to £3million to secure Origi's services six months earlier than planned. No deal is yet in place with Lille but the initial discussions have been encouraging and Anfield officials are confident. (Echo)

Re: Winter is Coming
I don't want Origi in January, better for him to play in France than come to Liverpool to see whether Sturridge gets injured again. Not that I think he's ready to make a big difference yet anyway.

Re: Winter is Coming
Not sure it's really better for him to play in France for a team that sits deep, isolates their strikers and plays hoofball. Origi needs to play for a team that uses his pace, passes into space and has some inclination to attack. On top of this he's been getting booed by the Lille fans as well. Not really a great developmental stint IMO. I would take him back along with Shaqiri and a keeper, or a midfielder and a keeper.

Re: Winter is Coming
Also it's worth noting that Lille have recalled their striker on loan (Diaby) and made an official enquiry about Sigthorsson out of Ajax (please be true, get him away from Ajax, plug). Signs pointing to Origi coming to Liverpool early IMO.

Why, Why, Why, he should of stayed paying a few mil for our own player and putting high expectations on him, fml.

Re: Winter is Coming
If this stops our interest in Shaqiri I'm going to be mad.
Still don't understand why we made Lallana a 25m target over Shaqiri in the summer in the first place, yet now we're willing to pay to bring our own player in Origi back from loan, who's hardly looked convincing at all... :S

Re: Winter is Coming
Origi is frigging 19 and playing a level we would exactly want a promising player like him to be getting experience at. Simply despair from our part if we're trying to bring him to Liverpool now in January. But hey, let's bring back Origis, Ibes, Assaidis, Teixeiras and frigging Aspases and hope that they'll turn our season around.

The problem isn't the level he's playing at it's the environment. It would be one thing if he were playing for a team that encouraged him to play a fast paced, passing and running game. However the team he plays for is all about hoofball and is one of the most negative teams in the continent. I would like a new signing (though I don't think that spending 3m more to bring Origi here as a part-time player and to rest him is a bad thing anyway) but taking Origi out of an environment that isn't exactly healthy is something that is probably better for him. It's not like 3m is going to eat up our transfer budget and with Sterling adapting to striker fairly decently and Sturridge coming back even if we wanted Origi to come back at the end of the year where would the room be if we bought another striker in this window?
What we really need is an elite presence at CM to go with Henderson, a real right back, and a keeper. As long as we address one of those things in the winter I think that would be fine to go with Origi coming early.

We're still muppets in the market.
Won't be surprised if we actually get Defoe's services come the end of the window.
