The New England Revolution Thread Ahjdoixxokek

The New England Revolution. A team some would stay stuck in time. As the Columbus Crew are set to redo their brand/logo on October the 8th this year, it will leave the Revolution as the last original 10 MLS franchise to not have rebranded or moved to a soccer specific stadium since the league was created in 1995. While the league moves to what some deem to be MLS 3.0 in 2015.. The Revs feel still stuck in MLS 1.0. In 2011, Robert Kraft was quoted as saying they had made progress for the Revolution to get a stadium in a boston suburb, and would hear more about the development in the next 12-24 months. 3 years later, and still no word.

However, today marks a new day in revs history as they signed WC USMNT star Jermaine Jones. A much needed physical presence in midfield and added experience to the dynamic, young Revolution midfield. The Revs in recent times have had quality teams, but never enough to push them over the edge. That might change as the cheapskate Kraft seemingly has opened his wallet for once. Could this mark the beginning of a new era in Revolution Soccer?

Nice to see New England rising from their own ashes of last season.  A bit of a bitter scene for a Chicago Fire fan though, as its not only built on our own failing in the market (Jermaine Jones) but also highlights just how much the Fire are struggling and perhaps even moving backwards.

Rumors are escalating that they'll (finally) move to Boston and abandon the Gilette arena. But this seems to be at odds with Boston's olympic bid (the proposal would call for a 20k stadium in south boston whereas I think the olympic comittee would like a bigger stadium) so this might only get resolved until it's decided whether Boston will get the US olympic bid.

Hopefully it'll be a good final. Would be massively disappointing if LA were to lose at their home stadium.

This is kind of what l love about this league though. You just never really know season to season man. l mean the Revs have been as much of a joke as this league can produce for quite some time now. But you can turn it around. Theres hope for the next season no matter how crap your team was the season before. DC's turn around was even bigger with them literally going from worst to first.

l think the Fire will be better next season for sure. They atleast had the intent of bringing in players, only silly garber rules and a miracle turn around in attitude by kraft got in the way. l think you guys will spend and get better this offseason.

l don't think it'll be too tied to the Olympic bid. l think what it comes down to is kraft and his willingness to get it done and put down at least a reasonable amount of money to make it happen.

l hope he sees the potential and clearly how much more value a stadium for this team would add to the franchise. The expansion fees and cost of simply having the rights to any sort of team at all are skyrocketing. l think the light is at the end of the tunnel. lts been in rumor mill forever but l really think lt'll make significant progress soon.

And l'll explode if it does. All l want is a good, old fashioned, American team, that plays in its own SSS that is less than a 3 and 1/2 hour drive from where l live. Thats all l ask for mls. ffs.

I've no real faith in the club's manager or administration to get things right, to be honest. We lost out on Jones because the club failed to meet the player's demands in the first place and gave DC time to make their move. Across the board we've made a lot of transfer moves ranging from silly to just plain stupid, and this past transfer season was as bad as I've seen it... trading away several good young prospects and players for mediocre players past their primes.

Sorry bro. It was you or us. Sad

But hey, at least you guys look like your rising. Pretty sure there's a good chance we'll decline after this. Just keep Nguyen in there. He's a good player. Smile

Thanks dude. Not too bummed, this was my first season supporting an MLS team.

I have been waiting for a long time for NY2 and ultimately I've come to the conclusion neither ny teams are for me

But I've fell in love with the revs this year and it's been great. I'm a new englander anyway so I suppose it's for the best. But it was over all an amazing season. Never expected the team to go as far as they did

We'll see. It gets really complicated from here on out. I'm hoping with all the sports complex development soon to go underway because of the Olympics that the Revs find a way to build off of that rather than wait a decade a remodel the Olympic stadium into a SSS like West Ham United is doing

The revs will likely have a 20,000-25000 capacity. The Olympic stadium will be nearly 70. I just think a downsize of that scale is far too massive. Plus holy crap I cannot wait that long. Hopefully the krafts find a way to get something done soon. The upside of this team getting a stadium of their own in a prime location is too massive.
