Koeman will likely line up with a 4-3-3 or a 3-5-2. Given who he has at his disposal I would think the 4-3-3 is most likely.

Let's hope Rodgers surprises us and Moreno is ready to start.

He's had a full preseason with Sevilla and had match fitness to play in the European Super Cup so fingers crossed.

But he doesn't have any real understanding with the squad/team or manager's preferences. It's a huge ask to expect Moreno to start against Sotton.

Like I showed in my formation I don't expect him to start. And he most likely won't probably for the better since he doesn't have a clue how our team functions tactically.

But since I think a stationary cone is better than Johnson, I'll keep wishing.

Johnson generally has done a serviceable job at LB for us in recent times. Forcing him to play on his weaker foot seems to increase his overall concentration levels as he can't get complacent. That in turn means he's much less susceptible to being caught out of position or losing his man. I'd rather see him at LB at the moment than RB, to be honest.

Just watched highlights of that Arsenal game, can't wait for this season to start :D:D:D

I just hope Koeman doesn't park the bus, although I'm afraid he will. He saw what we did to Dortmund. No way he'll press us high.

We need to play quicker in the future, it was too easy for Soton to defend against us. I hope Lucas starting in that midfield position is not going to be a recurring sight. We need a more forward-thinking player there.

Coutinho had a poor performance, but Sterling and Henderson were great.

I read on the BBC's live text that "Of the 22 men who started, only Fraser Forster has had fewer touches than Daniel Sturridge". Kinda reflects our blunt attacking display today.

If you're talking about their goal, that was in no way Skrtel's fault. We had like 5 players on the side where their goal came from, none of them following Clyne's run and Lovren failing to stop the pass.

Speaking of Lovren, not bad, but did he look better than Sakho? I don't know.

Finally, what's the situation with Enrique? Manquillo did OK, but is no way better than Enrique. I also feel a bit sorry for Flanagan. Johnson had a good game.

A very unconvincing win. Surely we will do better from here on.

When Lovren pushed up Skrtel needed to move over more to cover for him as Manquillo already had the other side secured and Southampton only had one guy on that side. There was defensive errors a plenty on that play, but Skrtel as the last line of defence needs to be smarter and more aware.

Lovren looked good, and our main pairing should be Lovren - Sakho.

It was Manquillo's first game in the PL. He was okay. Nerves. Coutinho was invisible throughout. Lovren and Skrtel did fine.

The Clyne goal was basically nobody tracking him since the start of the move. Not reading to much into it.

Sterling will be WC, Glad Sturridge opened his account as well.

Its was a must win game considering we have trips to City and Spurs next.
Can in for Lucas, Moreno in for GJ/Manquillo and we are set.

no that goal was not Skrtel's fault at all. That is way stupid way of thinking of covering each other in such closed spaces, leaving even more space for other players into box; it was a run from a FB and Lucas should have been aware of it.

But as Nishy said, it was BR's fault to play Gerrard and Lucas together and this all was to get Coutinho central, which didnt work anyways. I would be happy with 4-3-3
