Re: La Liga 2014/15 Discussion
In a press conference for the NT, Kroos said that while La Liga on average might have 'better footballers' than the Bundesliga, the small teams there generally tend to roll over and be easy prey for big teams.
That's also why he's quite happy there, as it suits his pedestrian temperament.
I'm paraphrasing.

Hmm. While this might be true for games in Camp Nou and Bernabeu, and I don't blame small teams for not exerting energy once they are 1 or 2 goals down in those stadiums, this is certainly not true when teams play infront of their own fans. Both Mehdrid and Barca dropped points in 8 away games last season. Bayern dropped points in 3 away games last season and 2 the season before.

Where Madrid can fail, and miserably at that, is Champions League where a team with some cojones will take their game to them and attack their flawed line up.
The squad that Ancelotti lined up against Athletic is suicide against top European teams. Playing two defensively incapable fullbacks in Carvajal and Marcelo, fielding a defenceless midfield trio of Kroos, Rodríguez and Modrić along with wingers who do modest defensive work...that doesn't sound good to me. No doubt they are one of the best attacking teams in Europe this season but there are still question marks over their ability to perform under fire.
The same was said last year
Actually the only thing Carlo does wrong imo is not playing Illarra.
Except it wasn't, large majority said you would excell more in Europe compared to the league due to a number of factors.
Mainly because of how Carlo sets his teams up but also because in CL most teams will attack more so more space for Ronaldo etc.

Real Madrid are suffering from exactly what Arsenal is suffering from, and that is lack of defensive prowess. Yet the damage is not as pronounced or obvious in Madrid's case. Mainly because:
1) Real Madrid simply have a better squad than Arsenal due to virtually unlimited capital. They really hurt teams when they attack and I don't know any team in the whole Europe who'd want to defend when Madrid are firing at them. Arsenal have signed a couple of players for big money in the past couple of seasons but the best they can do is sign Barcelona and Madrid rejects. The difference in the two squads is huge.
2) There are a couple of teams at most that who challenge Madrid's defence in La Liga. In EPL there are more than 5 teams who can challenge Arsenal and perhaps more so when those teams are playing at home. Simply put the league is much more even in England while in Spain...let's not go there.

With Bilbao form and Valencia and Sevilla doing well, I'd hardly say its an easy draw.

Re: La Liga 2014/15 Discussion
So no one is gonna address the little head peaking at us in the pic? No? Ok then.
Granada and Rayo later. I maybe definitely would try to watch it though lord knows how neither side is interesting to watch. Lucho insists Suarez has improved to which I believe he meant his diet.
Not many mouth watering match ups. Maybe the Depor-Valencia might be really interesting. Eibar would still be the best Basque team regardless of result which means Messi might actually break Zarra's record this weekend.

It's not only Levante though. Bilbao, Levante, Depor, Osasuna all teams which gave us hell away are having horrible seasons or not even in our league. So sad to see

Great ball by Messi to Xavi for the goal
Eibar only have themselves to blame, Barcas defence has been very porous and they havent taken advantage of that unfortunately

When Levante is concerned I'd say no as Barca beat them 6-0.
They really are just that bad, I won't comment on the other teams mentioned though.

Re: La Liga 2014/15 Discussion
Been thinking this for a long time and matches like this reinforce it. I've never seen a player with such a large disparity between how many goals they score and how clinical they are. Just another regular game where leo missed 4 tap ins and still scored. How is he breaking records? it's insane
