Re: Transfer Rumours V5
Arsenal only get 50 % of the sum that is exceeding € 36M. For example if Chelsea pay € 40M that would be 50 % of € 4M. You're not getting 50 % of the entire transfer fee. lol

Where did you read that, if you don't mind? So I can explain it to my Arsenal fellas.

I don't know if there is an English source like BBC or Telegraph. I think it has been explained from Catalan sources like RAC1 who are getting their information directly from the Barca board. But even logically it wouldn't make any sense to include a "50 % of total fee" clause. This would mean Barca would make a huge loss unless they sell for € 70M+ which would be the break-even point just to recoup the money that was paid initially. There is no chance in hell we would be offering Fabregas right now for about € 35M-ish if this was the case.
Here is a Gooner who explained it last summer already: http://goonerinbarca.wordpress.com/2013/07/11/cesc-fabregas-contract-clauses-pay-attention/ Obviously not an official source à la BBC though.

Re: Transfer Rumours V5
It does make sense, because at the time Cesc had still 4 years left in his contract, Arsenal were not forced to sell but agreed to talk so Barcelona had to accept this kind of stuff to get him, it explains the low fe you got him for and the time of payments. In negotiations Arsenal and Barcelona also agreed a sell-on clause for both Hector Bellerin and Jon Toral, so you also get a % if we sell those two in the future, that should be calculated too.
It's all here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/8703312/Arsenals-sense-of-loss-from-Cesc-Fabregas-departure-softened-by-clauses-in-his-Barcelona-contract.html
Obviously the guy can be wrong, he could be wrongly informed but Jeremy Wilson and David Ornstein usually are spot on on Arsenal news. As I said we have to wait and see, as none of us can know for sure.

Re: Transfer Rumours V5
How does everyone feel about replacing Ces with Rakitic?
He's faster, taller, scores and gets almost same amounts of asssits...
But the issue here isn't finding another attacking mid, it's finding a good play making central mid like Xavi. I like Rakitic, but I don't think he's what we actually need. unless we plan on using Rafinha as the Xavi rotation guy, which I'm totally ok with. Rakitic would then rotate with Iniesta

I am good with it. I think he can play in the deeper position just fine. In fact, the position really isnt THAT different, its more about his ability of connecting the lines and being positionally aware of himself vs who he plays with in the midfield.
I think he can do that, something Cesc has failed at.

Most definitely 50% of the profit on sale.. The 50 % of sale is a huge bs deal that i cant see any team doing considering they just paid 36 mill euros for him. Its like co owning fabregas with Arsenal lol..no body does that. The 50 % profit on the other hand does make sense.

A bit funny that the first summer Agger is finally available Barca drop any and all interest [according to the media] despite being after 1 or more CBs.

Unlike Cesc, I've seen Rakitic do fine dropping deeper. He goes quite deep sometimes actually, I've seen him dropping into positions you might find Busquets in. He's certainly fine as far deep as Xavi gets.
More effective in positions you'd find Iniesta in, but I haven't seen him troubled too much from deeper positions either, I agree with Dani there.

What is this "deep" thing all about? Xavi in the Pep era never played "deep". He is like 5 - 10 yards away from Iniesta all the time, at times higher up the pitch if you look at heatmaps. He drops deep to make himself available and offer a passing outlet for the centerbacks in offensive transition but he doesn't stay there. We don't need a regista à la Pirlo or Alonso who consistently spray passes from deeper positions. Rakitic's profile fits the role of a floating #8 at Barca just nicely.

That is what they mean. Someone who drops deep to get the ball. If he was pressed in such a situation. Cesc would likely lose the ball while Rakitic is more likely to retain it.

Cesc doesn't even make himself available in first place. Iniesta on paper is an advanced midfielder as well but he comes towards the ball all the time. Fabregas just waits upfront.
I believe that Fabregas could have improved and ironed out some of his flaws if he worked on it. But he straight out said he is a different player to Xavi and compared himself to Özil. He simply didn't want to adapt. The pos.

Rakitic is a good signing. He'll offer more energy and athleticism to your midfield rather than finesse. And he's quite good at dropping deep and making himself available to receive passes from the back.

Just for the fun of it I am putting together a starting 11 based on rumors:
---------------------MAtS--------------------
no idea------Pique-----Marquinos----Alba
Rakitic-------Busquets-----------Iniesta
Reus----------Messi----------------Neymar
The Alves rumors are not very strong at them moment I think

Reus and Muller are rumour are not very strong....so i dont count that....
Rakitic has a very good chance after what his father said. Sevilla coach confirmed this week that he will probably be leaving.... I can see him ending up in Barca if Zubi does not interrupt....
same goes for Marquinos as well...

I was about to post that the logical sense would be if the percentage is only on the profit margin but then I saw this post of yours. Offering half the raw sale price of a player to previous club is sheer madness, maybe even by Zubi's standards it will be a monstrous stupidity.

Well explained. When I said deeper position I didn't mean a Pirlo or Alonso type of role. I should have clarified that better. My main priority is that we shouldn't be buying a goal hanging midfielder.
Thanks everyone for your replies to my question on Rakitic. The general consensus at this forum is reassuring to say the least.

I would make bold, underline and maybe even paint this post in gold. Said it all really. It's frustrating to the point of tearing your hair when Iniesta and Fabregas play together. Fabregas won't drop deep and if ever he tries he is terrible at it. So Iniesta has to stay deeper and largely has very little influence on the creative aspect of the game in such matches. Fabregas actually started his career in a deeper position and was a fine player for that age. Why he so completely refused to be anything other than a "goal hanging midfielder" is worth pondering about. In some teams that kind of role may be just what was needed but he should have understood what Barca needed from him. It was clearly said in the media that he was meant to eventually replace Xavi. Why then did he not even try to learn that role?

Then who the hell is going? Then why all these shouts about rebuilding the team? Maybe fans will have to forcibly enter the premises, kick every one of these board members out and start re-elections. They have tried our patience a bit too much by now.
Re: Transfer Rumours V5
Well I'm kinda confused with our board here
Alves out = Quadrado in
Fabulous Cex = Ratatic in
Valdes out = Ter Stegen
Pinto out = Bravo
But then theres the rumored...
Alexis out = Do they expect Deulofeu to replace him? I havnt read no rumors of us being linked to a winger. Unless they plan on Quardado being the new winger and not a right back like we all think is the plan. Maybe they plan just having Montoya and Adriano get that role with/if PSG sell us Marquinhos to do the right back duty.
Also rumors of Tello headed to Sevilla as part of the Ratatic deal and Jona Dos Santos as part of the Bravo deal. I wish them the best if true
