They scored 3 goals when they had to close the game out and have a goal keeper in fine form. And of course we are gonna struggle vs the Netherlands, but the important thing is we lived to even reach that game. I obviously think the dutch are gonna curb stomp us, but thats ok. As long as we go out fighting like we played today; thats all us, as Mexicans, ask for and so far our team has delivered.

Yeah, its unfortunate, but at least you advance
But, didn't he used to be coach, but was fired and then was replaced by another coach who was also fired, and then another and another before he was finally brought back? Or did he just decide to leave or something, or was this all in my head and I have the story completely wrong, because I find mexico's manager fascinating (other than his defense of the homophobic chants, but I'm not going to get hung up on that because I don't know the situation all that well and if the media was spinning it or not)

Re: World Cup: Group A discussion
ha. No has never coached Mexico before until like late last year when we faced New Zealand in the play off game.
He was coach of club America, the capitols soccer club before he got the job.
Chepo was the guy in charge last year when Mexico played god awful. Then he got fired and his assistant, Tena, took over for the match vs the USA, in which USA beat us pretty bad. The assistant Tena, was fired after that one match. Then they put another guy in charge, Vucetich, who lead us for the remainder of the World Cup qualifiers. We finished fourth and he got fired.
Then after that, Herrera had just won the league with Club America and they decided to let him lead the team in the play off game vs New Zealand, in which we thrashed them and qualified for the World Cup. He used literally almost all of Club Americas team and not our regulars for the New Zealand games. Since then he slowly integrated our Europan based players back into the team and everyone seems to be clicking with him. To note, he has been mainly using the players that we used when we won gold at the Olympics. Something the previous 3 coaches didnt use for some odd reason.
the PUTO thing we yell out during the time as opposing keepers kick the ball is just to annoy the opposing team. It does mean gay, or more so *bleep* in spanish, but we aren't literally calling the other team gay. Its hard to explain, but most of the things in Mexico have double or sometimes triple meaning. it's more like a cheeky shit talking thing, that would be said amongst buddies when we yell it out. Notice the fans aren't mad when they say it, just laughing and having a good time. But I can see how FIFA would want us to stop saying it

Surprisingly, Mexico looked worse against Croatia than against Brazil
Then again, Croatia played poorly, too, not enough width or creativity in attack.
But I hope we will see the quick-passing and well-moving Mexico against Holland.

Re: World Cup: Group A discussion
It's funny how people doubted Neymar's quality in the first place, the guy is basically doing what he has done for about 3 years straight at Santos
i.e. drag a team to victory, anyone who has followed Neymar throughout his career won't actually be surprised by the way he is playing.
Also imo Cameroon have got to be the worst team at this WC finals.

Re: World Cup: Group A discussion
This is Neymar's first great game and it came against the worst team in the WC. Stop sucking him off.
Gustavo winning the ball off a Cameroon defender and sending in a beautiful cross isn't what I would describe as "carrying".

You clearly didn't watch the game. Neymar was in beast mode every time he had the ball. he makes Brazil click.

Re: World Cup: Group A discussion
No, you're playing into the media narrative. This clearly isn't a one man show, it's very much a team effort.
Oscar was the best player on the pitch in the first game. Gustavo was by far the best player against Mexico. Today he was easily the best player though.
Hulk & Fred both playing like complete shit is exaggerating his performances.

Re: World Cup: Group A discussion
So was Uruguay against England, didn't stop people sucking off Suarez for what was a performance wise not that great.
Gonna have to deal with it Gil, if a star scores in a win he will be wanked over in OTT fashion regardless if he played well or not.

Re: World Cup: Group A discussion
Paulinho has to be Big Phils love child with a woman from the Amazon in a São Paulo whorehouse. That is the only reason I can think of why he still plays.

Re: World Cup: Group A discussion
Pipe down with all your sucking off fantasies FFS it's not London Pride yet
I said the guy is dragging Brazil to victory which is exactly what he's doing
Unless scoring more than half your teams goals and providing most of the danger in every game so far counts for nothing
Neymar and Oscar aside when things get tough most of the rest of the attackers don't even look like they can deal with the pressure let alone be decisive
