I really hope the club signs Shane Long in the summer. He'd come cheap, would be willing to play off the bench and is a home-grown player. Moreover, I would like to take this opportunity to let the rest of Goal Legacy know that my adoration of Michael Laudrup was both folly and misfounded.

After a great deal of soul searching I have come to see the two fold error of my judgement and would like to revoke any negative reviews I gave of Shane Long and also revoke any positive reviews I gave in relation to Michael Laudrup. I now realise the myopic nature of these comments and would like to apologise for any stress they may have caused members of the forum.

I am going to take this as an opportunity to learn and hopefully I can look back at this situation and laugh as more informed and humble football fan.

Well sooner or later we're gonna have to move on from Ashley Cole. I mean, he's been awesome/legendary and all that but he won't play forever. At best, we'd be able to get another year out of him or two given that most English players retire early.

Still doesn't sit right with me that we're signing a replacement for Ashley Cole who will be 29 the day the season starts, especially after all that "building for the future" malarkey José was banging on about when he was first appointed. Smacks of one of his usual 'buy for the present, **** the future' signings; as in, "I'm not gonna be here when this bloke needs replacing, so who cares".
