Re: Fargo || TV Series
I loved the movie. One of the greatest black comedies of all time imo. This show has potential with the sotry and great cast but I think I'll start watching it when Game Of Thrones ends. Don't have time for so many shows

Should I watch the movie before I watch the pilot?

Re: Fargo || TV Series
Nah, I don't think that's necessary.
I think it's a completely different story, but it might follow the same vibe that the movie had.
Anyway, the imdb rating for episode 1 is 9.8/10.
Atm downloading it.

Re: Fargo || TV Series
BAHHHH GAWWWWDDDD!!!
Episode 1
I'm tempted to say that this might be the Coen brothers' best work. But I won't go so far, coz it's only one episode done. But still it was amazing!
It follows the exact same vibe as the movie. That almost light-hearted, dark, twisted crime feel to it.
And no. You don't have to watch the movie, because it isn't the events after the movie. The pilot is almost exactly like the movie, in which an idiot guy (Martin Freeman) gets unintentionally caught up in the actions of a dangerous, peculiar fella (Billy Bob Thornton) and then shit goes down. Like really. A lot of shit goes down in this episode. It's like the whole movie in episode 1, and I figure they're just going to go on with the story and make it more twisted and dark and interesting.
IMO, it's definitely more gripping than the movie. For starters, the casting choice was brilliant with Freeman and Thornton. Thornton's character is absolutely amazing. You guys who love Shane of TWD, Ramsay of GoT, Errol of TD will certainly love him.
The episode starts of a bit slow. Just like the movie it has that slight comedy (light-heartedness) feel to it. You know trying to be funny, but not really funny. That's one of the things I disliked about the movie. But yet, it gets intense near the end and the acting is brilliant which makes it a strong opening for the show.

WHAT A PREMIER
Neo noir comedy at its best. Thornton and Freeman Some hilariously dark parts in there.
Perfect pilot and a MUST watch.

Fantastic premiere. If the rest of the episodes maintain the similar level, we have a potential GOAT series on our hands.
Much better than the movie.

Firenze and I have very common taste, always been agreeing on shit like thi, but he's been scrubbing lately. First rooting for Stannis now this crap. Needs to re-evaluate his life before he loses it completely.

I like the acting, atmosphere and cinematography. Think it was a little too over the top. Yes, I have seen the movie. Didn't see anything that made me think it'd be a GOAT contender, though.

Summer for me too sadly
Firenze and me were getting along perfectly then something happened. It started with Bryan. I do agree with him on Stannis though

Re: Fargo || TV Series
Yo so for those of that watched it, let's discuss this a bit.
How the hell did Lorne disappear from the basement?? As I've been thinking about this in the past couple of days, a stupid theory has crept in my head. What if this is like fight club, and Lorne is actually a figment of Lester's imagination. He's the one who is doing all the killing.

I'm not sure, the nurese confirmed multiple people, and so did their interactions and timelines. I mean the cop had Lester on the ground when he got shot, and Thronton was at the Motel when Lester called.

Re: Fargo || TV Series
True, like I said a pretty half arsed theory. However, it still interesting how exactly Lorne disappeared from the basement. Unless there was some sort of a secret back door that even Lester didn't know of his own home (which I doubt).
Another possibility is a little on the supernatural side with Lorne being the devil (or a demon) but I doubt they'd go there. At the present we know he's doing these assassination 'jobs' for some bigger suits that we don't know anything about.

LoL I was so caught up in the amount of deaths that I didn't even think about that.McAgger wrote:Yo so for those of that watched it, let's discuss this a bit.

But yeah, that's kinda weird how he just 'disappeared'.
Only thing that I can think of is that there's some secret exit(window or something) in the basement which Lester didn't knew about obviously, but that's strange because how would Lorne know about it and not Lester.
Hope it's something that gets answered in the coming episode, cuz if it is left unanswered I'll feel a bit incomplete somewhere inside.
The pilot was very good.Yohan Modric wrote:Is this a good thriller show?
Have you watched the 1996 film? If you have then I can say to you that it follows the same vibe.
I recommend you give it a try and see if it suits your taste.
There's certainly good potential in this. And I think it'll continue to go on strong throughout this season.
Btw, I think it's a anthology series a la TD. Read that somewhere.
So basically, this season, with these characters and this story, consists of 10 episodes.

Changed my mind after reflecting on the premiere. Potential to be a top 3 show of the last five years.

What I don't understand, is where they go from here? So many dead already, they got a whole 8 episodes to fill before Lester dies/gets arrested.

Re: Fargo || TV Series
Do not read if you haven't seen the premier.
- Spoiler:
- Well the Chief forshadowed that his deputy will carry on and succeed him. She's proven savvy enough and will no doubt want to get to the bottom of who killed him. She's basically going to be this show's version of what France McDormand was in the movie so that's something to look forward to.
I think we'll be seeing more character's though. Not sure how Colin Hanks' character ties into this just yet, but he's billed as a regular so that'll be answered soon enough I suppose.
Awesome premiere though. Great stuff.
