19 attempts on goal !!!! 10 shots on target And Wow so much confidence from everyone, what a match !!! If Moyes was still here we would currently be making it difficult for Norwich....

more shots on target in Giggs' first game than in any game under Moyes. Certainly showed more intent to score today.

That was the awesome United we've craved all season. Attack Attack Attack intent from the word go. Rooney was good even at 60% sharpness, Vida was a rock in defence, Evra and Jones were solid at the back, superb 2 goal cameo from Mata. Clean sheet. All round team performance. A bit rusty in the first half but we'll only improve with time as the confidence returns to Sir Alex levels. So pleased for Giggy and his 100 % win record. What a boss. The Red Army is back !!

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
welcome Back United! we missed you. We missed that fast paced football full of attacking intent. We missed that football full of bravery and expression.
1st half it seemed as though the ghost of Moyes' brand was still shadowing over the players. As soon as we got that 1st goal and went in for HT, we came out a different team. Full of pace, confidence, attack attack attack.
Countless chances on goal. Our players pressed well and defended and attacked in numbers. These were a set of players playing for a manager. Giving it their all for the shirt.
I know it's only Norwich, but still, we saw positives all over the pitch. Valencia even looked a different player in the 2nd half, and Young had the confidence to take shots from outside the box. Confidence and self belief instilled again!
Good start by Giggs' red army.

the most striking contrast i am noticing is that he knows each of his players' best roles and positions on the field and is not looking to playing them out of position, well except for the ones he was forced to like jones in the RB role.
That is already a huge improvement. Moyes didnt have a clue about our starting 11 and players' roles even after being here for 10 months.
kagawa behind the striker and then mata came on to play behind the striker. welbeck with his pace and as rightly on the left wing and then young came on. rooney as a striker and I am certain if rvp returns before the season, then only either one of him or rooney will be on the pitch and they will be playing in their natural position.
And also I believe giving young and valencia a go today instead of more fancied names like januzaj or in that case mata from the start was because the first 2 here were given one final chance to prove what they could do.
It was more like giving all those guys opportunity to express in a moyes (a.k.a shackles) free environment.
Nice positive start to the giggs era.
Having said that in the coming matches I hope he willl bring that dream combo back , that of mata, kags and adnan all 3 to play together and it will be massive, it will be sumptuous under the current circumstance.

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
All season there's been something desperately missing. Progress.
After that game I at least feel like we're seeing some. We played with so much more intensity and drive in that second half. The excitement when we attack is returning and the players looked like they had a point to prove. The match stats were also quite impressive. The shackles are coming off.

Meh first half, great second half. I didn't like the players publicly endorsing Giggs to be the next manager
I can't wait for van Gaal next season, we're going to play some great football.

United v Sunderland
United v Sunderland: De Gea, Jones, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Carrick, Fletcher, Young, Mata, Hernandez.
United subs: Amos, Smalling, Valencia, Fellaini, Januzaj, Welbeck, Van Persie.
Why is Ferdinand starting again over Smalling...smh. Young over Januzaj ffs. smh. No Kagawa too.
Don't like the starting line up at all.

This is why Giggs can't be manager, can't drop mates like Rio. No way, he'll have the ruthlessness to sell him.

Spurs lost, so Europa League is our hands. I wanted it all season, but hearing Sherwood said the last they didn't qualify for it the following season they qualified for the CL. So, Liverpool is not the only team to take advantage from the less games.

Moyesy warned him he will dock his wages if he ventured that far.
The difference in the positivity of our play and the pace of it is startling and great to watch.

Get rid of nani, Young and Valencia this summer. Bed in Januzaj more next season and buy a competent winger!
Our experienced wingers atm are absolutely shit.

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
i hope kagawa wont leave because of this. He must have been one of the players who would have been the most pleased and relieved by moyes's departure. So if giggsy too refuse to give him games now, it must be shattering. Preferring Young over him is...
even that slight hope of staying for season next would fly out of the window. Just stay until Gaal comes, I am sure his hard work will finally be rewarded.
And likewise its shocking to see januzaj not getting minutes now. if not kagawa, at least he should be there on the pitch. His confidence is on the high cos of the latest developments in respect of his international career. And even then if he is not selected, its massively disappointing.
