Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Gotta love a bit of poetic justice... one team brings on a centerback to play for the draw and then ends up conceding the winner.

Poor Clint. Probably wanted that winner so badly. He's been under so much criticism lately he could have used that goal

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
With College Basketball, practically no MLS games are going to be televised for about 3 weeks ffs. Even MSG isn't showing the Red Bulls because of the Knicks and all the Hockey. Unfortunate.
Also.. On MLS.com, apparently the Away goal rule is coming to the MLS this year in the play offs
All I can say is ugghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Dempsey actually looked good today so hopefully he can begin to consistently perform again, because I was really starting to doubt whether he should even be in the World Cup squad.

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Once again the club that tries to play for a draw ends up losing late. I hope MLS managers are taking note.

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Glad Keane, missed that penalty, nice bit of karma on a penalty which never should have been called.
Overall a very entertaining weekend of football.

Chicago's loss was exactly what I feared. Great to see Joya get his first goal at least, but goodness me we were so negative. Way too pragmatic.

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Read a very accurate (and worrying) article on the Chivas-Fire match. It basically just observed that the match showed all of the same problems we saw last season: no real creativity or work rate in attack, no invention or drive in midfield, and mistakes in defense.
Can't wrap my head around the decision to not bring Magee on, to be honest.

Watched the 2nd half on a semi-decent stream. I tend to agree with the article 100%. It was dire stuff truly.

Why didn't you play Magee, injured or Chicago just enjoy self inflicted mutilation?

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Yallop said he'd had a recurrence of his pre-season "injury" (that speculation suggests may have just been cover as he negotiated over a new contract) but that would beg the question of why he dressed and was on the bench at all. Surely if he had an injury and couldn't play it would have made more sense to have Schipp on the bench as an option.

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Really soft goal for the keeper to give up there. Henry still enjoying his football though is wonderful to see.
As for the Fire....probably should've beaten Portland, who looked rather poor. I really liked what I saw from this side though as they looked more up for it than they did in the opener. Was great to see Harry Shipp get his first start and he looked really bright alongside Joya and Mike Watson. Soumare was instrumental back there in defense and even out of position at RB. Amarikwa had some really good looks and needed to take his chances better, but that goal we gave up from Gaston Fernandez
Should be a good home opener against NYRB at least.

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Meh, the Fire have NEVER won an MLS match on artificial turf so I wasn't expecting anything from that match this weekend. Getting a point there was actually a pleasant surprise.
I'm getting worried though as with each passing match that Magee doesn't play, the rumours of there being a rift between him and the club/Yallop grow a bit harder to dismiss.

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Not even fair, Bradley was a one man midfield and Defoe was exactly what I expected against MLS competition.
From worst to first?
