I hope that we bounce back stronger. Thats what we've done this season or most of the season. Everytime we have had a setback we bounced back.

Re: Stoke City 1 - 0 Arsenal: Bottled It
our record in last 10 games last season was 8 wins and 2 draws!
bring on them 1-0 wins
2 wins 2 draws from next 4 and such thing becomes possible again
the remaining games after that certain death run is
Swansea-West Ham-West Brom & Newcastle all @Home
and
Hull & Norwich Away
hate to look too far ahead but its that time of the year

Not really, had a shit game against United and got very lucky against Liverpool at home. Wenger’s mistake was thinking that we played so well against Sunderland because the players he picked were on great form, and so he didn’t want to change an “in-form” team. We cant score, how can we win games when we cant score. Wenger lost the league the day he bought an injured player to replace Ramsey and Walcott.
I dont get what Wenger sees in Giroud and how in the world Sonago is our back up? Teams laugh at us.
Top 4 is our only trophy, Wenger and the board will be very happy.

With the resources we have upfront 3rd or 4rth place is the best we realistically can hope for. Fighting with Spurs for 4th place again.
We bought a 50m player to fight for 4th place again.

If Spurs win tomorrow (at home to Cardiff) they'll be 4 points off 4th, though City have 2 games in hand.

"Season over." Well, maybe. We'll have to see. "We have to play Chelsea and Man City and ... there's no way we can rely on getting those points!" As if being champions somehow wouldn't entail beating big teams.
Today's match sucked a lot and nobody has cause to be happy. But damn some of you all give up easy as shit. Why do you even watch sports?
This has happened before. The sudden fall of our season.
So if we don't beat Chelsea and City, will we have to rely on other teams to take points of them? And still will we win all of our games against the weaker teams?

After a result like this, the games like Chelsea and United at home pisses me off even more when Wenger decided to play with caution rather than trying to beat Chelsea and United when we could.

Embarrassing display. Woeful result.
2 wins in 6 league games with a horrid fixture run coming up combined with Everton and Bayern cup games.
I'll sign for a top 4 place now and the FA Cup. Grab your hand off for it actually.
I think the players are scared of going to Stoke. They seem frightened. 1 win in 6 PL visits now - and that was the day Ramsey got injured.
Giroud is SO NOT good enough. Wenger's hunt of Suarez and Higuain at least shows he knows this.

What I am saying is this. We are still in a decent position in the table. There are some very difficult matches coming up, ones that we don't have cause to be optimistic about. But in order to win the league you hav e to win those big matches anyway. The pressure is greater now after the Stoke loss. But the pressure would have remained huge even if we beat Stoke 7-0. This one single match isn't going to be the decider. (Unless Arsenal lose the title by 1-2 points.)
Yes, there have been late season collapses. We have seen that before. But the last two seasons have actually seen the inverse of that. Arsenal have achieved CL qualification against huge odds. Don't say "4th place isn't good enough" ... that's not my point. My point is that we have seen Arsenal finish really well relative to the odds two years in a row.
So while I certainly don't object to some rational pessimism about our title chances (I feel it myself), to look at this Stoke result and say, "season over. This tram sucks. This manager sucks. Boo hoo." It just strikes me as total defeatism and Piers Morgan-level dramatic flip-flopping.

Fickle? My stance hasn't changed once, check my posting history. And outside of that I've been saying the same thing about this guy since probably before you were an Arsenal fan. Arsenal fans suffer from Stockholm Syndrome. Like i said, enjoy your 4th place, it's what you deserve.MJGunner wrote:1991 wrote:Season over. Rinse repeat. How can you now defend the moron in charge of us? Enjoy your 4th place trophy, you earned it.
Funny how this hasn't been mentioned until now. Fickle, fickle.
Absolutely terrible. Refereeing was also a disgrace. How many studs-on stamps did we have to endure? Also, that penalty was ridiculous, ball to hand rather than hand to ball and how quickly did he award it?
Most disappointing 90 minutes of the season.
But those who think the season is scrapped are losing it. Have some faith ffs. Anything can happen in 10 games. This just makes me that much more excited for the FA Cup.

then whats the point of being a fan if you are going to be so negative. Did we realistically think we could win the title at the start of the season ? Nope. I am sure if we had been given this position at the start of many would have taken it. The players have done well to be in it, the least we can do is back them as they get ready to be in a tough run. Good result or bad result you still support them. If you lot are so adamant that we are going to finish 4th might then you might as well stop watching any Arsenal games since you know already know the ending.

Funny you'd invite me to check your posting history. I did. You haven't commented on post-match threads of matches we've won since September (maybe even further back, I gave up). Also, you declared that Arsenal and Liverpool would drop out of the title race by Christmas, and then were surprisingly quiet about our chances until now.
Quiet when we win, ferociously loud when we lose.[/quote]

I think it's our destiny to always finish fourth. It's just that throughout the season we have a different way of getting to 4th spot, whether we're struggling around 10th spot for majority of the season, or if we're top of the league with 5 games to go, 4th place trophy is always ours it seems.

Re: Stoke City 1 - 0 Arsenal: Bottled It
So our next 3 league games are:
Spurs (a)
Chelsea (a)
Man City (h)
Is a draw in each of these games even good enough? Not for me. I certainly think we'll need to beat one of Chelsea or City. Goes without saying we have to go to White Hart Lane and get the 3 points - a place where we haven't won since 07/08 season. Chelsea haven't lost at home in the league under Mourinho. Man City are, well, Man City.
Throw in the Everton and Bayern games surrounding these too...it all looks too much. Hope I'm wrong.

Can't see it. Beating spurs and Everton would at least make 4th secure. FA Cup should be the priority at this point.
Wonder where it all went wrong.

Re: Stoke City 1 - 0 Arsenal: Bottled It
It went wrong yesterday, when we dropped points when we shouldn't have during a time when we couldn't afford to. The way the fixtures have been scheduled has played a part, too, because while we were dropping points against the big sides we played back-to-back, the teams around us were picking up points against easier opposition.
So in another sense, you could say that the points we dropped against United in November and February, against Everton, City and Chelsea in December and Liverpool also in February was where it went wrong. Of course, this is only if we don't pick up enough points from the next three games; for all we know, we could win all three and everything will be rosy again.
The main thing, I think, is to be ending March still within three points of whoever's top of the league, which ever way we do it.
