if Suarez doesn't roll around like he was stung by a tarantula he'd more likely get his penalty.
Gerrard should've been sent off though.

Get in there ffs
Quarter final
Not much to say. Fabianski was MOTM. Koscielny and Flamini really good. Oxlade is an animal. What a player. He can provide the attacking threat from the right which we lack. Goal and an assist. Ozil was very good too.
Jenkinson and Monreal had pretty bad games. Most of their chances came from either sides. Also Arteta was better than he was at Anfield but still pretty slow to react at certain times. Flamini was really good compared to him.

They could have had another penalty, but then Gerrard should have been sent off. Overall, this game could have gone either way and they did have more chances than we did so we can feel relieved that we won. Our BFG, the Boss, and Fabianski were immense - I mean any club that doesn't pick up Fabianski in the summer will be missing out.
It sucks that we have yet another tough team in the next round, but we'll be at home again. The Emirates is becoming a fortress

lol looking at the replays I think Fabianski boxing with two fists at the guy's head with the ball gone should've been a penalty too, and a red card probably.

Good game, a lot better. I think its time to bench Arteta, really playing every game and age is getting to him. Big games he should be coming off the bench imo.

as for Sanogo, one would have to see how his finishing actually is, because today his 2-3 attempts were completely botched. Which is not to be judged though.
But his workrate, the way he occupied the defenders, the presence and authority he managed to project were remarkable, for being thrown in such a game.

After 5 months out specially. He lacked sharpness but his work rate and holding up was really good

Really don't care if they had a penalty shout, Suarez could have gotten it if he didn't exaggerate so much, that was extravagant.
Plus, did they not score their first goal last time from an offside position? I don't really have much sympathy for them, anyway, there were plenty of missed calls so let's not linger on that too much.
Sanogo was really up to the occasion, he does look shaky, mistiming a few shots/crosses but he took no sh*t from their defenders and had a real presence and superb workrate the whole game.
Really liked his movement.

I feel the same, it was a clear pen, but Suarez RIDICULOUS exaggeration simply makes you not feel for him. I don't know how he can think that nonsense brings any advantage for him.

Good result, performance a bit of a pub team nature but right now its the result that counts more than anything. If Suarez doesn't dive for the first one he would have got the second peno.

Wenger is collapsing, the pressure seem to be getting to him. His polite courteous demeanor has turned into a rude aggressive one.

Re: Arsenal 2 - 1 Liverpool: With a helping hand from Webb...
On the balance of play, Liverpool deserved to win, I think. They created more and better chances than we did and really had us penned back in the second half. We didn't deal with Suarez or Sturridge particularly well and they got in behind so many times. If not for Fabianski they would have won the game comfortably.
This without the blatant penalty that they should have got when Chamberlain took out Suarez. How Webb doesn't give that, especially as he's literally right in front of the incident, I've no idea.
So the scoreline is harsh on them. At the same time, I thought we played with a lot more energy and purpose, particularly in the first half. We pressed well and went in hard, sometimes too hard with Monreal, Flamini and Podolski putting in a few late challenges, and passed the ball quicker without creating many chances.
The additional pace and mobility of Chamberlain and Sanogo really helped us. Chamberlain was threatening all game, while Sanogo worked his arse off. It's clear that he's still a raw player, but he battled well against Liverpool's defenders and troubled them at times. He didn't shirk any of the physicality and won his fair share, and he played an instrumental part in the opening goal as well with control that was reminiscent of Adebayor when he was doing well with us. He's got a lot of developing to do but there were some encouraging signs that he could be a useful player for the remainder of the season.
The second goal was vital because with the way we were defending against Liverpool's threat, there was no way we were keeping a clean sheet without a lot of luck going our way. Once they got back into the game I think a bit of panic crept in, and that, combined with a few players who hadn't played in a while, meant we weren't as solid as we could have been. Still, there was no faulting the effort from the team; the so-called lazy Mesut Ozil spending most of the second half covering at left back, Sanogo making his first start performing a thankless task isolated against two centre backs, etc.
Things went our way in the end but after those last two games, I'm happy to take it. We really needed that win for many reasons, and now there's a buzz going into the Bayern game on Wednesday. Play with the same sort of effort and pace we did today and we'll have a decent chance of getting a positive result from that game.
We've been lucky in the draw, too. Everton, of course, is a hard game but we're at home again, and if we progress to the next round we'll be playing at Wembley, which just happens to also be in North London. We've got a great chance of winning it this year, so looking forward to that game.

Re: Arsenal 2 - 1 Liverpool: With a helping hand from Webb...
liverpool deserved the win imo, but it shows our squad depth that we can rest 7 players and still come out and get a result.
on liverpool, i expect liverpool to play like this, all energetic and such, they are fresher, they have had no european football all season. if they get into the top four they need to improve their squad massively if they are going to do anything next season.
on sanogo, he played well, i said it, that his mobility alone will help us. you can clearly see on those youtube comps that he is at least clearly more mobile than giruod. if sanogo can gain match fitness he has a big chance of replacing giroud for this season.

Re: Arsenal 2 - 1 Liverpool: With a helping hand from Webb...
Good win with a crippled squad, now we have rested few players for the Bayern game AND went through the next stage, props to Wenger and the players. (Wenger also made a good sub when he brought Gibbs on for Chambo, Monreal was getting doubled).
Good game from Yaya Sanogo, wasn't sharp enough as he lacks match fitness but did a good job out there.
Özil... awesome, for the first time in a long time he actually had runners in front of him. You can see how much he loves to play with Oxlade-Chamberlain, I just wish Wenger would play Chambo on the other side... this duo has fantastic potential.
Oxlade-Chamberlain and Fabianski share the MOTM award. Outstanding performances, I hope to see Fabianski in a good club next year.
And finally, the atmosphere at the Emirates was fantastic. The fans were behind the team all the time and it helped them.
Bayern are next, whatever happens there shouldn't demoralise us because CL is not our ambition this season, we should mainly concentrate on the league and FA Cup.
Props to Liverpool who had a great game.

Oh my word, I've just re-watched the penalty claim and had a good hearty laugh.
I can see how Webb thought Suarez was making a meal of it, look at that lovely flip he does off of his head. That's just top class. Take a bow, son.
