You guys should watch Man Utd once in a while, just to get a feel what it means to play bad.

Cules are just going too crazy lately.

We won 2-0, kept a clean sheet, had 27 shots, 83% possession, 18 chances.
Yet, its a bad game! unreal!

I think we already have the solution within our current squad.

Bartra - Pique - Masche - Adriano.

A very balanced back-line and should do better at set pieces...

When was the last time Bartra played RB? Is he capable of playing there against the best opposition? I mean, I'm ignoring the fact that Dani Alves is quite possibly still the best RB in the world, or at least one of the best.

Futbol did a good job of pointing out the other flaw. Adriano I can agree with.

Montoya sucks. I can't think of one game where he impressed me this season. At best, he's been OK. Wouldn't mind seeing him gone and a more capable back up RB coming in.

I'm just going to go ahead and scapegoat Alba. We were solid without him, he shows up in the picture, and Atletico game aside we have been weak on the defense ever since. I'm probably not being fair, I didn't even watch the Valencia match, but the evidence of the goals conceded is pretty damning.

well when you replace a almost prime abidal with alba of course it's going to go downhill
add that to replacing a good puyol with mascherano and it worsens.
ADD to the fact that they both play the left side of our defense where most crosses/goals come from and you realize that is a massive liability.

How could we play Bartra and Adriano?

Bartra is a mobile centerback..but hardly a fullback. He isnt going to overlap and his ability to cross or play comfortably in the attacking third is a complete mystery.

On the other side, Adriano doesnt often overlap either. He likes to come inside and shoot or be an option backwards. I dont see those two as ideal at all.

That's ignoring Mascherano still being a starter.

This game we played better, but made similar amount of mistakes. Messi seamed more interested in playing. Alves is not much worse, its just since Alba i playing he does not get the freedom to torment the opposition as he used to with Abi. Also, I think since Messi is playing more deeper other players don't link to him as much as before.

Mashe should be benched for Bartra mediately, and probably Song should be given more time than Bussi until he is woken up of complacency.

LOL at people saying Pinto is better than VV. VV makes one mistake whole season against Valencia when the whole team was more than crap while being our MVP countless of times and suddenly he is garbage.

My main issue was the tactics. Barca attempted 50 crosses. Why?

Alves 85 attempted passes.
Alba 100 attempted passes.
Messi 70 attempted passes.

Xavi gives ball to Alves or Alba and they cross the ball in. Rinse - repeat 90 minutes. There is something wrong if the game goes more through Alba and Alves than Messi. Is this Manchester United or what? They didn't even try to combine through the middle until Iniesta came on and we saw glimpses.

Also the team doesn't react to Tata. If it's true that Xavi had a word with him to get back to Barca's old tactics that's horrible (irrespective of which tactic is actually better). Since around Christmas the team has definitely changed back to possession at all cost and it doesn't work. Xavi might feel more comfortable in a 0 transition setup when Barca stall possession because he doesn't have to close down spaces and fight for second balls defensively but he also doesn't add much offensively anymore to make this tactic work. He sprays the ball to the wide players who are already marked. That's his entire input right now.

Seriously, everything is wrong with this team right now. The personnel, the management and the tactics. Totally understand the low attendances. No one wants to see this shit.

The thing with Valdes is that he doesn't play a consistent season EVER. Even in what was looking like his best season he produces those absolutely amateurish brainfairts in crucial moments. A 21 year old might hesitate to come out of his line but why does a 31 year old senior still not know whether to come out or not and gets chipped from 7 yards?

He doesn't claim any crosses. That should be very important for a Barcelona goalkeeper as Barcelona is a small team as it is. At least the goalkeeper should be able to claim some crosses and corners. Not fly under the ball ridiculously like Valdes.

His footwork is really really overrated as well. Everyone will notice this once ter Stegen joins Barca next season. Even Pinto tries to pass it out of the back more than Valdes.

Good shotstopper like many Spanish goalkeepers and that's it. Have to laugh at those Culés who justify him as a club legend because Henry shot directly at him twice in 2006 some 8 year ago. One of the most dispensable players who was part of a great team ever.

LOL. You are turning to be pretty funny bandwagoner. Weren't you the "futball" guy, the Barcelona fan? LOL.

VV was easily our best player of the season! One bad match is not going to change that.

Sounds and seems (again, I missed more than a half of this game) like confusion again with what our method of attack is.

Before, Dani Alves and Alba or whoever is at fullback, are quite reluctant to thrown in crosses. At least in terms of crosses per touch, that would be very low. But if your in a team in search of more directness, as a fullback I am sure some of the thought process is putting crosses into the box whenever you can.

The full game is on YouTube if you want to rewatch it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58byzgm85Tw

Must have been Tata's instructions most definitely. Because if he didn't want that to happen he would have told his fullbacks not to do it.

Doesn't have anything to do with "directness" anyhow in Barca's case. Like 49 out of 50 crosses didn't happen in transition when Sociedad were unorganized (Sociedad attack -> lose ball -> quick long ball to the wings -> cross it). No. It happened after a sequence of passes when there was already an entire block of defenders parking in the box. Pass-pass-pass-pass-pass it around => then suddenly cross it into the box. That's not direct. That's stupid. Especially without a #9. Especially for Barca. When they were down to 10 at least Pique should have stayed upfront if this was the gameplan to break the bus.

Oh, and if you only saw the end of the game I will pray for you if you decide to rewatch the first half performance. Mascherano put in a masterclass. It already begins around the 3th minute. Laughing

So one bad match this season he's suddenly inconsistent! Laughing

Who's the best GK in the world currently? All of them spend the whole season without any single bad performance? You're a Bayern no? Laughing Should have seen Neuer's howlers last season, speaking about inconsistency Very Happy
