Obviously Liverpool are not so clever in their dealings if they let Salah slip through their fingers due to haggling too much - and now they might have to pay double for another guy who is likely not exactly better than Momo?!

Konoplyanka is far better than Salah if both players are compared on what they've done and what they can replicate.

Konoplyanka is more of a finished article than Salah is.

Level of competition is an issue when rating Konoplyanka... The league is poor and his club has no european comp to speak of. All you have is NT and he looked like one of those over-dribbling types to me...

I find the Ukranian league to be quite underrated in strength and performance. We've seen Shaktar unluckily draw difficult groups while the likes of Dynamo Kyiv, Dnipro and Metalist have made up a strong make-up of consistency within the Europa League and troubled many of the stronger EL teams. Dnipro have been competing within EL for years as Kono has performed there in the process. Not top level yet what he has done has me convinced enough that he can replicate it within the higher levels. His dribbling may be overt yet he possesses far more in his game than just dribbling. Your comparison would be apt if speaking about Yarmalenko.

Yarmalenko is much better than him imo because he produces a final product: he's decisive. That's probably the reason Yarmalenko is rated much hogher in his own country... Younger too. Konoplyanka seems like another one of those players that has flash without substance.

Palmeiras defender Henrique is close to joining Napoli, according to his agent Marco Malaquias.

Draxler's buy-out clause is £37million, but it is understood that Arsenal are reluctant to pay more than £30million and a delegation has travelled to Germany for further discussions.

It may be your opinion, but it's not true what you say about Ukranians rating Yarmolenko higher than Konoplyanka. Go on Xtratime in the Ukranian section and you'll see the opinion of the fans is pretty much either that they are the same quality or that Konoplyanka is better. I think Yarmolenko is more well known outside of Ukraine which is why he's rated higher than a guy most people haven't seen play more than a couple of times.

Though going by the stats looks like Yarmolenko has more end product.

Different players, Sports. Yarmalenko is a direct threat who has been primarily centre-forward or left forward to provide lateral passes with his dominant left-foot. Konoplyanka is more in the form of Eden Hazard in his ambidexterity and creativity where he can play left, right centre AM or even deep, to where he has performed in all quarters. Yarmalenko is a superior goal threat yet Kono is the more complete package who consistently influences the game. I'm guessing you judged Kono by the 2nd leg versus France, to which he was deployed out wide, away from his now best central role for Ukraine and Dnipro.

Not to say Yarmalenko isn't a solid talent as any team would be intelligent to buy him yet Kono is more accomplished: winning Ukrainian footballer of the year 2010, 2012, 2013 and was in Europa League team of the year 2012. Same age as well.

Yarmalenko having a fantastic year btw.

That's the thing McAgger.... and i noticed it during France games. Konoplyanka would get past a guy with a wonderful dribble or get himself into shooting position with a great move. But then, either his final pass was poor or his shot off. He wouldn't finish off anything (thankfully lol). Mostly in the first game since Ukraine got nothing done in the second game.

I've seen enough of these types with Lavezzi and Pastore that make you think they're great with their technique and then you realize that their true impact is minimal. They get found out at the highest level pretty quickly. Lucas Moura is having the same issue too.

I'd rather a player that may not be quite on par technically... but that will finish off his play with an impact decision as opposed to one where you want to pull your hair out.

At OM, we have that too with Payet, who drives me crazy and he fooled me last year because he was actually finishing off plays. But it seems that Rudi Garcia has a skill for making these types effective (Payet and Gervinho).
