FCInterNews reporting that the agreement is for Inter to receive 3m on top of Vucinic. Not good enough.

I didn't want him anyway. For obvious reason, we all know he's not a number 9 and I think what we need is a number 9 (CF).

Vucinic is a SS. We don't use SS. If he comes I can only see him play outside on the wings. We have enough good players who play there already imo.

Sky Sports sources understand that Newcastle have joined the chase for Mohamad Salah and are considering a move for the Basel midfielder. Liverpool are reported to also be chasing the £12million-rated Egypt international.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are also still trying to firm up a deal for Borussia Monchengladbach striker Luuk de Jong.

Yohan Cabaye insists he is happy to remain at Newcastle United amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Laurent Blanc has publicly praised the midfielder on several occasions and has refused to rule out a move for the 28-year-old in the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger has already stated Arsenal will not submit a fresh bid for Cabaye this month, despite attempting to sign the player during the summer.

"My mentality hasn't changed, even after what happened in the summer. I will do my best for the team every day," Cabaye told reporters.

"If the manager or the staff are happy with my performances, and the fans who are supporting me are happy, I am happy."

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce feels "frustrated" by the club's inability to strengthen their squad in the transfer window.

With the Hammers sitting in the relegation zone after a run of just two wins in their last 15 games, Allardyce has only been able to bring in Wolves defender Roger Johnson on loan so far in January.

Allardyce has also seen interest in Monaco striker Lacina Traore come to nothing, but the former Newcastle United boss remains desperate to recruit new players.

"Frustrated is an understatement in the amount of deals we've tried to do in the last six to eight weeks," he told reporters.

"There are very few deals happening across the board at the moment because it's difficult to get the right players at this time.

"Later in this window things generally get a bit easier in financial terms, in that clubs want to move the players on. That's why you get a flood of deals in the last few days of the window.

"Our need is to produce a really good signing that can hit the ground running and have an impact right away."
