Barcelona and Marc Bartra have reached an agreement to extend the centre-back's contract at Camp Nou until June 2017, the club have announced.

The 23-year-old's current deal is due to expire at the end of the season but the Catalan giants revealed on Wednesday that the defender will sign a new contract in the coming days that will have a buy-out clause of €25 million.

Bartra, who celebrated his birthday on Wednesday, joined the club aged 11 and is a product of La Masia academy at the Blaugrana.

The defender has found regular first-team opportunities difficult to come by with Gerard Pique, Carles Puyol and Javier Mascherano all preferred to the Spain international.

However, the centre-back has made eight league starts this season under coach Gerardo Martino and recently stated to the club's official website that he feels like a more important part of the team.

Meanwhile, the club are also hoping to tie down full-back Martin Montoya, as his contract expires at the end of the season.

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has claimed the club want to extend Mario Mandzukic's contract at the Allianz Arena.

With Borussia Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski set to join the German champions at the end of the season, reports had linked the Croatia international with a move away from Bayern.

Arsenal had been cited as one of Mandzukic's potential destinations, but Rummenigge has insisted negotiations over an extension to his deal that expires in 2016 will take place.

"We will keep Mandzukic and will try to extend his contract," he told Bild.

"I don't have the feeling that he'd be averse to that."

Team-mate Arjen Robben will see his contract expire next year, although Rummenigge is also confident in extending the Netherlands international's stay in Bavaria.

"I'm always in contact with him and his father and soon we will meet in order to be more specific," he continued.

"We are very happy, and he feels comfortable. I have a good feeling."

Tottenham midfielder Nacer Chadli is keen on a move away from White Hart Lane in search for more regular first-team chances, according to the player's agent.

The Belgium international, who joined the club in the summer for a reported fee of £7 million, has started just one game since Tim Sherwood replaced Andre Villas-Boas in December.

And Chadli's representative, Daniel Evrard, says the attacker would be willing to go out on loan to impress elsewhere and prevent potentially missing out on a World Cup berth.

"His situation is not easy at Tottenham at the moment. The World Cup is arriving so it’s a problem," Evrard is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard.

"For him to play at the World Cup it’s important so why not a loan? We haven’t spoken to Tottenham yet but I know there are clubs interested in him.

"There are a lot of players in the same situation who are not in the team and they want to play in the World Cup so there is a market for a lot of clubs. It’s important for him not to take any risks by going to a country he doesn’t know well."

Evrard also claimed that Chadli is growing frustrated at being played out of position at White Hart Lane, often being deployed on the wing when he is more suited to a central role.

He continued: "Nacer had to play in a role which doesn’t suit him. They wanted him to play on the left wing and he is not exactly a winger - he prefers to play through the middle.

"It’s very difficult for him because we’ve not seen the best of him at Tottenham. He has big potential so he is a little bit frustrated.”
