Re: 2013/14 Winter Transfer Rumours Mk. II
The best french players in Ligue 1. Always for the best... that's the issue with NT. There is no rapport between the top players and the public because they are all abroad.

PSG looking to acquire Pjanic this winter and would send Pastore to Roma as part of the transaction potentially.

Jordan Ayew lent by OM to Sochaux.
The replacements mentioned: Paul-Georges Ntep (Auxerre), Filip Djordjevic (Nantes) and Bafé Gomis (Lyon).
Unless OM sells someone, nobody is coming imo.

Yes,i guess the likes of Netherlands and Brazil have the same issue.
France NT is cack because they are represented by a bunch of mercenary African players who have no passion or pride for the country they were raised in.You can deny it all you want but thats the truth.

Wolfsburg interested in De Bruyne, according to Het Laatste Nieuws. They've opened negotiations and apparently he has a £25m price tag. They want him cheaper, so if he's too expensive they could loan him with an option to buy.

Borussia Dortmund interested in Matic, according to A Bola.

Mario Mandzukic could move to Juventus in the summer, according to Tuttosport.

Re: 2013/14 Winter Transfer Rumours Mk. II
i dont know if it's about passion tho Surag, because it's always been that way in france, immigrants were always their best players yet they proudly represented france before.
It's just something about the kind of culture this very specific generation of youth grew up in france with.
It's going to turn because you can see kids like Varane or Pogba coming up, and they have nothing to do with the generation of benzema, nasri and ben arfa.

Ok leaving that aside, coming to the main point.Dont know what difference it makes if Pogba plays for Real Madrid or PSG.90% of the Dutch players play abroad and they dont have any issues of rapport.Saying French players playing abroad is one of the reasons in them underperforming in recent years is just arguing to make a point and something i dont agree with.
Infact if Pogba played for Madrid,i'd reckon he'll become an even better player and perhaps more crucial for his NT too.

Re: 2013/14 Winter Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Yeah... i love it when ignorance talks Nick. These guys have no idea how French culture works (likely never been there lol) and yet feel they can give some insight into it.
Raymond Kopa's parents were of Polish decent... Kopaszewski. Platini's heritage is Italian. Tigana is from Mali. etc.
France has always been very multi-cultural, which is a great thing. And everyone feels very much French. The issue is that certain groups feel that the system in France benefits certain cultural groups to the detriment of others.. and they're right. But that's no different than any other country. You always have groups with more power than others. There is no anti-French sentiment... but anti-establishment sentiment. These are very different things.

Re: 2013/14 Winter Transfer Rumours Mk. II
It's not the fact that they dont play in france, it's the fact that they dont play together at any club really. You can see how Italy, Germany, or Spain used a strong core of elite NT players playing at the same club to establish their success. That doesnt exist for any french player. But like you said, if they had more quality and better attitude they would still be able to make it work like brazil, chile, or holland as you pointed out.

Re: 2013/14 Winter Transfer Rumours Mk. II
And i didn't say that French players being abroad caused them to underperform I said that the best French NT players play abroad and have left France from a very young age... As a result, there is no personal connection between these players and the french public.
For example, Zidane didn't leave France until he was 25. Thuram left when he was 24. Laurent Blanc left when he was 31. Desailly when he was 25.
The trend of players leaving very young for abroad started in the late 90s and early 00s.

CBA with this BS really but Dutch players don't have a problem with rapport really?
All that happens at every competition with Holland is early promise, then in fighting and then the inevitable self explosion.

Re: 2013/14 Winter Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Difference between Brazil and France is that kids start and star for their clubs at an extremely young age. Many begin at 16 for the top side of their clubs. Ligue 1 is too good for that. As a result, nobody ever sees these players in the top sides in France before they're gone. On the other hand, Brazil fans get to see these players at their clubs for a few years before they leave... and thus create a connection.
As far as Holland... Why don't we compare trophies for France NT and Netherlands NT and see which side is more successful And no infighting in the Netherlands NT???

Re: 2013/14 Winter Transfer Rumours Mk. II
the reason why this generation of french footballers is disconnected from the french public isnt because they left the country too early, it's because they are immature, irresponsible, act like children, bicker and form militias within the france NT to fight each other (ribery vs gourcuff debacle), the fact that they have publically shamed their country at the world cup, with players like Evra still kept around and showing little remorse for their actions, going on air to insult medias, people like Nasri insulting journalists at the euros, or guys like Benzema acting like they hardly give a fck.
It has nothing to do with how long they stayed in france. Heck, people are starting a fanatic following of Pogba just because of how he behaves and how he represents himself as a young man, how he represents his country and the obvious passion and commitment he is showing for his NT.

I'm talking about recent memory though.Holland made a world cup final not so long ago.France on the other hand got owned by South Africa.

Yes they might have but is it really due to the fact that most dont play at one club/or not staying in their country being a big enough reason for their self explosion ?
And also i dont remember any other NT having as much as infighting as the France NT.They're just on another level in that aspect.

Re: 2013/14 Winter Transfer Rumours Mk. II
This is where you're wrong Nick. Zidane had several disciplinary problems in France and then at Juve (including an earlier headbut that cost him the 2000 ballon d'or). Same with Djorkaeff... Platini used to smoke at practice
But since they had created a relationship with the French public and media, a lot of these things were laughed at as opposed to being criticized. Why? Everyone knew these were all good guys since they'd followed them for years.
Right now, the media and the fans aren't involved with these players and, thus, only see things as they appear on the surface only. There's no relationship that had been nurtured over several years. There's no alternative perspective for peeps to consider other than the hard facts as reported.
Take France NT 1998 prior to the WC... everyone criticized Jacquet massively. But the players? No way. The fans knew those players from their time in Ligue 1 and there was no way that the media could vilify them. Now compare that to today...

Re: 2013/14 Winter Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Just a final note... i think everywhere, France included, the media have become horrible. They look to sensationalize things and create controversies because it sells. As a result, the relationship between the public and the players is very bad since the public mainly read/see the sensationalized aspects of these players' lives... the only way for players to get positive press is to win. There's no other way. If they lose, both their play and their personal lives will get vilified.
