Re: Man City vs. Liverpool FC || December 26
We arrive there with no fear," said Liverpool's manager. "We outplayed Manchester City last year, home and away. We had two draws and we should have won both games but we will go there with every respect for them. I believe with the squad they have, it is their title to lose.
"For us, we will go there and play our game. We will go there and be aggressive and to press the football. We had 23 shots on goal against Cardiff [on Saturday]. They will have seen from Cardiff and from Tottenham [whom Liverpool beat 5-0 at White Hart Lane this month], that we can score goals."
Rodgers revealed his belief that City are not unbeatable at home in the Premier League grew after attending Bayern Munich's 3-1 win at the Etihad in the Champions League in October.
Rodgers, who took several Liverpool players with him to see that group game, said: "Bayern played with a three-quarter press [as Liverpool did at Tottenham]. They played with a controlling midfielder. Man City played 4-4-2, which was surprising on the night. They played two centre-forwards. Bayern had a holding midfielder, they had the quality and they got a result in the end."

Re: Man City vs. Liverpool FC || December 26
We ought to turn up from the first second of the game.
We've had some slow starts this season, and City will want to pile the pressure on us the from the kick-off. I think they scored in like 12 seconds against Spurs, that pretty much killed their game. They became unsettled, and never really came back into it. We're obviously not Spurs, but conceding a goal early at a place like the Etihad can be a problem...

1 - 2 @ HT and how frustrating is that...
We've matched them but are trailing. Hell, we've had better chances, but we're trailing. Frustrating.

F*cking hell we were robbed of a goal. In all honesty we should be winning. They don't deserve that lead.

My thoughts. But he has been very decent.
Why Skrtel is marking Kompany in dead-ball situations! Allen missed, again. He lacks believe. Henderson is off today.

That offside decision on Sterling was laughable indeed. He was a whole yard onside. Need to get better referees in games of this magnitude. Then again, had we scored on that play, it all would've gone differently and we cannot count goal plus goal is two goals. I'm glad we're still in it and playing well at times, but City look destined to score a third, too.

Good half despite trailing. Midfield needs to recover better because City has open passing lanes when they counter attack and CBs can't play the midfielders + the runs behind them since they running to get back into position.
Mignolet should have saved that though. Not sure what happened.
But again, good performance.

Yeah, Mignolet should've done better, but some of those shots will simply go in.

Our defenders are prone to counter attacks, they would do well by not rushing to nod when we have a corner kick..... That city second goal is disheartening..... And God who punish referees when they make terrible calls like against sterling?

It's up to the mids and the guys that are playing outside the box to slow the counter down to allow the CBs to recover when they're up on corner kick. The way Yaya and Nasri got through was entirely too easy.HOXTYGEN wrote:Our defenders are prone to counter attacks, they would do well by not rushing to nod when we have a corner kick..... midfield getting completely molested by yaya and Fernandinho. As if Liverpool is playing without a midfield tbh.

Meh... City was without Aguero too. Games like this better show management the true quality of players.
Midfield needs a complete overhaul. None of them are top quality.

disappointed but we are still 4th in the table
what a performance by us in the first half, we were Godly really, but the way we were getting battered on the counter, they could always find a pass through us.
Only 3 points behind the first place, i can ask for anything more on Boxing day

Offside call
Sterling's miss
All our own fault, cou had a great chance, should of put it through the laces rather than place it poorly like he did.
Sterlings miss, worse than allens against everton ffs.
Johnson had a half chance, didnt react quick enough.
City's second goal was half a facepalm, Mig should of done better, all the keepers in the world would of cringed at that effort.
Another set piece goal we conceded from, ffs whats going on, every time skrtel was against company i thought we would concede from a corner.
Overall, would of loved a point, deserved 1 at least. To come away from that game and not get embarrassed like arsenal and spurs is a plus. Can't be that disappointed, didn't expect much anyways against city anyways.

Re: Man City vs. Liverpool FC || December 26
Sterling's miss puts a strong "what might have been" feel to this game.
Anyway, like I said earlier, I'm not upset that we lost, trying to be happy that we were as good as them, yet of course when we play that good and come that close to earning something from City at the Etihad, it's got a bit of a bitter feel to it.
I just hope we can reproduce this against Chelsea, fatigue might become an issue.

I do. It was the toughest away fixture in the league and we created as many chances to score as they did. On the balance of the play I'd say a draw would've been a fair result and that's more than you can say for most teams.
