Re: Mamadou "Kirikou" Sakho
This guy is a monster. He moves like a cart that has lost a wheel but he always puts in a great tackle. And he is even better at stationary position. I think he will improve even more.

Yeah he has been super fantastic imo ever since our reemergence. Absolute wall.
This formation suits him so well.

Re: Mamadou "Kirikou" Sakho
Yeah, like I was saying in the Villa thread, he's actually very entertaining to watch because he looks so incredibly clumsy - or would be entertaining to watch if he didn't play for us, now it's a mixture of entertainment and fear. But, apparently he knows himself how to control that firetruck body of his, because he doesn't make nearly as many mistakes as you'd think based on watching him play.
The thing is that why did we feel the need to splash £20m on a CB last summer to begin with?
Rodgers obviously thought in the summer that Sakho isn't good enough whereas most of us fans were saying that Sakho should play. And now Sakho is proving to be good enough. It's such random (and expensive) transfer business and inability to tell who's good and who's not

Re: Mamadou "Kirikou" Sakho
^ We needed a defender to play WITH Sakho, not replace him.
Then we went on and spent 20m on a player inferior to Skrtel; explains our whole transfer strategy really.

That wasn't what Rodgers had in mind. It's been made clear by his CB choices this season that he thinks Skrtel >>> Sakho and thought Lovren was needed to replace Sakho.

I'm not so sure. Until his current run of form Sakho seemed to have trouble fitting into the way that Rodgers wanted to play. We don't know what training is like and how Rodgers picks his squad. Ultimately he probably felt that Sakho needed more time to get healthy/adjust to the team. I don't think he will drop him anymore given he's been great since being reintroduced to the team after being mediocre before that.
Defenders are pretty tough, too, as it's a really tough position that usually has better players in their late 20s, early 30s. It's good to be patient with them.

I like sakho. but when I see him try to play football on the edge of the box. I look like a Christmas turkey that's just seem Bernard Mathews pointing at him. panic sets in.

Re: Mamadou "Kirikou" Sakho
Have you noticed that he (Sakho, not Bond) tries to avoid using right-foot altogether. Usually players use their weaker foot for softer tasks like receiving the ball, controlling the ball or short passes. He tries to do everything with his left and that's one of the reason he looks awkward and sometimes comes under pressure.

Re: Mamadou "Kirikou" Sakho
He had unusually high ratio of misplaced passes in the second-leg. The word is, he wasn't 100% match fit and played with a back pain. Also,

Re: Mamadou "Kirikou" Sakho
That one poor pass in particular could have been catastrophic, but on the other hand we weren't playing well in the 2nd half, had no control in midfield and were just lumping it forward too many times. Good that he tried to play it on the ground, but yeah, it did result in a couple of bad passes.

He will be assessed by the club’s medical staff at Melwood over the next 48 hours, but is unlikely to recover in time for the visit of the Hammers on Saturday.
