NFL/NBA Type Franchising in Football
I was discussing the proposed name change of Hull City to Hull Tigers with a friend and we ended up making a list of what teams would/could be called by this precedent:
Arsenal Gooners
Liverpool Scousers
Everton Toffees
Manchester Citizens
Manchester Devils
Newcastle Toons
Sunderland Cats (nt being racist here)
West Ham Hammers (could also be West Ham Sammers to honor Allardyce )
Cardiff City Dragons
Hull Tigers
P.S. : I do not endorse such name changes in any way. Quite to the contrary, I abhor it and feel it tarnishes the club's history. However, this was just a bit of banter and fun.
P.P.S. : Despite 5k+ posts, I think this is my first thread in the GS. Go easy on me

Chelsea Lions fits pretty well.
Would absolutely hate for the clubs name to be changed tho, feel for the Hull fans.

Oberhausener Kleeblätter (Oberhausen Cloverleaves)? Yeah, I can see how that name would strike fear into the hearts of our opponents XD
(Although Oberhausen's now defunct ice-hockey club was called "Revierlöwen" ("Lions of the (coal moning) area" which was quite okay.)

I thought about the Old Ladies one, but didn't want to single out Juve in the OP

Re: NFL/NBA Type Franchising in Football
Not feeling any of those names tbh.
Some of these just wouldn't do though:
Stoke City Potters?
Everton Toffies?
Fulham Cottagers?
West Brom Baggies?
Newcastle Magpies?
Chelsea Pensioners?
Schalke Blue Kings?
Dortmund Black-Yellows?
Bayern Reds?
Keep them as nicknames and monikers. I prefer "I Lupi" over simply "Wolves".
Lazio would be the Eagles btw.
Way too American and I'm American ffs.

Barcelona ... dragons? (seeing as St. George is the patron of Catalonia and the flag of st George is in Barça's shield?).
Or maybe Barcelona Catalans?
