Why isn't Ali Karimi called up? He's still playing, isn't he?

He is almost Ryan Giggs age, and even at his very prime he was quiet lazy (He was like the Iranian Ozil basically), but now he can't play more than 15 minutes at the highest level, so it would have been pointless taking him.

I don't like him as much as other Iranians do though, because of his prima donna behaviour during world cup 2006 that ruined the team chemistry. That team was our golden generation on paper, and Karimi felt the need to throw a hiss for being subbed after playing shit.

Well there are not many stars in this team compared to 1998 and 2006 teams but i think this is our most disciplined squad, this team defends much better than them, CQ has made the backline really organized.

Being just defensively solid is not enough though, we badly need to improve our scoring if we want to get something from this world cup.

Think we are falling further behind in Asia
this Generation is nowhere as talented as previous one
and there are some key players in the side that should be replaced sooner or later due to age

would have liked if we had at least one proper challenge before world cup to test our solidarity but hey who can you even blame for that

CB and CM paring are fine for now but alarmingly no adequate cover for them

one thing im disappointed is that we should have found best suited partner for Dejagah on that side to establish some understanding to make that our strong side instead we have tried so many different players there

should wait and see what happens next, after WC,
to say if we can move forward or not

I totally agree! The game was kind of frustrating for Argentinian players and fans alike. It's somehow a test of patience.
