Re: Kloppo: "If I watched this Barca side as a 4 year old I would choose to play tennis"
Basically saying his team wont play like Barcelona or Arsenal of 2008..His ideal teams runs 30 km per match and he has complete opposite philosophy of the likes of Pep,Cryff etc.Counter attacking specialist aka Mou 2.
Re: Kloppo: "If I watched this Barca side as a 4 year old I would choose to play tennis"
Comparing him to Mou
Counter attack specialist
Ladies and gentlemen we have found someone who considers Sacchi a mere counter attack specialist.

Klopp's philosophy comes from South American football. Mainly Argentina.

"He [Wenger] likes having the ball, playing football, passes … it's like an orchestra," the Dortmund manager says, pretending to play the violin. "But it's a silent song, yeah? I like heavy metal."
----------
The unique thrill of emerging from the dark and narrow tunnel at the Westfalenstadion, in which he has to stoop at various points, to be assailed by the colour and noise.
"It's a little bit like when you are born and your mother is [Klopp makes a face like a woman in labour]. Then, you come out and you see the best of the world," he says.
-------
How does he come up with this?
His interviews and press conferences are always fun, I pmsl all the time watching them

Anyway what Klopp is saying he finds Barca boring to watch not that he was bored by their dominance.
Nothing wrong with that really and he's not the only one who feels that way.

I didn't really feel he was saying that when he was speaking about it. I believe his whole point is he wants teams to have a chance and to fight, but when you see the the Barcelona team of 4 years they kept winning by huge margins and you saw teams barely have a chance and it takes the entertainment away from the game itself.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:How can anyone hate how Dortmund play lol? they have played some of the most entertaining football for a while now.

"What I love is that there are some things you can do in football to allow each team to win most of the matches."
Anyways now I await Johan Cruyff, or Pep's response

Wenger was playing 'heavy metal' football before Klopp was even relevant. Arsenal's best years under Arsene where when they were a high tempo, fierce counter-attacking side.

Re: Kloppo: "If I watched this Barca side as a 4 year old I would choose to play tennis"
It is time to accept that modern football is dominated by the idea that a team must have more possession than the opposition in every game in order to win. Counter-attacking has been rightfully marginalised to being the poor-man's tactic, the plan-b, an unsophisticated and simplistic refuge for those not able or willing to seek the enlightenment that is high possession football.

This comment is here to say that anyone who holds the above opinion is an idiot. This is the litmus test for football stupidity as far as I'm concerned.

I feel like what Kloppo said about Barca is at least 50% banter with Pep so I'm not really reading much into it.

I have to agree, Barcelona is absolutely the contrary of what i expected in the sport as a kid. I would have continued playing the shittiest sport ever (Cricket) had i seen them and not seen the PL at that age.
But obviously people are now mature enough to understand that its a way that works which is a good enough reason to employ it.

Every game they've played Arsenal have looked beatable and on their heels absorbing pressure, but when they come at you there is little doubt that they will find a way to put the ball into the back of the net.

I certainly agree with him, everything is good at moderation but when desire to have the possession in football becomes stronger than the main objectives that are scoring and avoid conceding goals the game is no longer attractive.

Hey, Barcelona are also playing heavy metal now.
Counterattacking goals 2013 / 2014 (via OPTA):
Dortmund: 6
Barcelona: 5
Real Madrid: 5
Chelsea: 3
Arsenal: 2
Bayern: 0
Klopp is just playing mind games with Pep before the Bayern game because Pep turned Bayern into slaves to poor man's tiki-taka.

Re: Kloppo: "If I watched this Barca side as a 4 year old I would choose to play tennis"
Not really. They have been playing with a much slower tempo and calmly building their attacks since Henry, Vieira etc. left and Fabregas came into prominence. Of course, they still counter attack through the likes of Walcott but not as much as they used to before.Motogp69 wrote:You mean like they are playing this season.ExtremistEnigma wrote:Wenger was playing 'heavy metal' football before Klopp was even relevant. Re: Kloppo: "If I watched this Barca side as a 4 year old I would choose to play tennis"
I have heard this BS said countless of times, but since when has that been the case with Barca?Lupi wrote: I certainly agree with him, everything is good at moderation but when desire to have the possession in football becomes stronger than the main objectives that are scoring and avoid conceding goals the game is no longer attractive.
Barca wants to scored as many goals as they can(hence why they tend to score the most in europe), but when the opposite teams puts 10 defenders outside the penalty area and when they do have they ball, they only attack with 2-3 players, then ofc it will be boring. I promise you that if teams would fear Dortmund as much as they fear Barca and put 10 defenders just outside the penalty area against them, then they would also end up having 70% possession of the ball and create very little, if any chances. EVERY STYLE IS BORING WHEN THEY HAVE TO FACE 10 DEFENDERS! Even the mighty Brazil of 82 lost to a defensive Italy.
During Guardiola's first season very few teams very afraid of us so they didn't defend with 10 players, infact they actually tried to attack us. And that resulted with us creating chances after chances after chances after chances and we played most likely the most attractive football in the world. So if Barcas tactic didn't change during Guardiola's reign, then how did it go from attractive and entertaining football to boring? Well, it's easy. The opposite teams tactics made it boring.
No, english football.Lex wrote:What, not being humiliated by Bayern?harhar11 wrote:And I will be honest, I absolutely hate the type of football that he prefers
And why do people keep on mentioning that defeat? Last season we started on fire, but after Tito had to leave because of his sickness, every player got depresses, which is something that the players themselves have admitted like Messi and Pique, and stopped training tactically, another thing that some players have admitted like in this case Xavi and Pique. Even one of the worst Milan in the history, even the most fanatically Milanista would admit that, defeated us 2. I don't if they started to train tactically when he came back, but I bet that those kind of emotion doesn't just disappear over the night.

Re: Kloppo: "If I watched this Barca side as a 4 year old I would choose to play tennis"
Might not be their cup of tea? While I don't hate their style, I prefer another one. I want my team to always be the protoganist and not wait for the other team to make a mistake so you can counter. Something which this Dortmund side have done a couple of times.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:How can anyone hate how Dortmund play lol? they have played some of the most entertaining football for a while now.

And his exact words whas that he hated the fact that Barca used to win games by 6-0 without breaking a sweat. Now, WE ALL know that Barca players not breaking a sweat is utter and complete BS! For example, Xavi and Alves used to always be the players who ran the most during every games and one of the characteristic of that Barca team was that EVERYONE DEFENDED AND PRESSED, even Messi! So basically what he is saying is that the other team didn't have a chance to win.
Can anyone please exaplain to me how come it's Barca's fault that the opposite teams knew that they were inferior to them, so they decided to "park the bus" inside their penalty area and in the end it turned the game boring! I am sorry, but I don't see how it's Barca's style that makes the game boring and not the defensive teams..
