RVP is so past it that he carried Man Utd to the title last year and carried Arsenal the year before that.ExtremistEnigma wrote:Why do you want another 'past it' striker? Aren't Torres, Eto'o enough already?Kick wrote:Cech

I'd love to know your definition of in their prime if RVP is past it.

Re: RVP Transfer Thread
That's why it is called 'past it'. How impressive has he been this season? He has only won one point by himself this season so far.. with his goal against Southampton. That wasn't the case last season. Man Utd look toothless without Rooney.. says it all really. Last season it didn't really matter whether he played or not.. van Persie was there to lead them.Kick wrote:RVP is so past it that he carried Man Utd to the title last year and carried Arsenal the year before that.ExtremistEnigma wrote:Why do you want another 'past it' striker? Re: RVP Transfer Thread
Looked impressive against Swansea and is tearing it up for Netherlands - he's getting 0 service from the players around him, we see how an average forward like Giroud is benefiting from the added creativity in the Arsenal team this season, pretty sure there was a game where RVP had something like 4 touches in 90 minutes. He's still the best forward in the league.ExtremistEnigma wrote:That's why it is called 'past it'. How impressive has he been this season? Re: RVP Transfer Thread
Van Persie leaving , i very much doubt that , you don't leave Manchester like that and specially at his age . Van Persie should probably want to at least see out his contract and play his last best years in Old Trafford , imo , Moyes or no Moyes ..what should he expect after Manchester really ? This situation with the training regime must be the first obstacle has had at United and he is supposed to leave already ? doubt it.
Those things can be fixed , especially when we are talking about a player like Van Persie. Van Persie needs some good players to come in January and help build stability in the team. Something Manchester should have done already by the summer and by the sole reason of losing Ferguson. No coach would adequately compensate with such a massive lose for Manchester , so what better than to sign 2-3 great players to balance it out and make it easier for everybody , RVP and Moyes included.
Expect Manchester to make some noise in January and that should be enough for Van Persie to continue from where he left it and for Moyes not to look this bad(imo). Otherwise , they can forget about CL next season , every single one of the contenders have made serious steps forward not only for this season , but for the seasons ahead as well. Van Persie is an immense player when on top of his game but you can't expect him to be Superman. United can afford to sign almost anybody , better play the part too. I know they never really signed many players in the summers but it was different with Ferguson , now with a new coach and just Fellaini .. why are people surprised really , i know the cliches United is United they will fight back , they will always be there , but you also have to help these remain relevant too.

Re: RVP Transfer Thread
I highly doubt Wenger would take him back. Forced his way out, plus what would Utd want for him? Probably more than Wenger would be willing to pay for a 30 year old injury prone player. No matter how much quality he has....
Anyways, he isn't leaving Utd. Leave him to suffer under Moyes

Re: RVP Transfer Thread
I can't see him going anywhere. Maybe if Man Utd finish poorly in the league (by their standards) a team like PSG or Monaco would grab him.
Even if he's moving out of his prime (debatable), RvP's not "past it" in the sense that he's now worthless, obviously - even a 35-year-old RvP is still going to be better than most top flight strikers. Fact. But he's now 30 years old. And if his bad injury luck were to return ... well who knows how things might play out.

Re: RVP Transfer Thread
If he leaves, and that's a very big if, I would expect PSG, Madrid, Chelsea, and Juventus to all be interested in his services.
With him turning 31 at the beginning of next season and pushing for the move, I can't imagine the fee being exorbitant. The main obstruction to any move would be his wage demands. PSG, Madrid, and Chelsea would all be more than willing to pay him what he wants. only Juve might have some issues paying his high wages after giving a fair sum to both Llorente and Tevez.
RVP could still contribute to any of the aforementioned clubs. However, what Moyes has failed to understand, is that he is a player that needs to be treated with kid gloves. That's not due to his personality as much as his previous injury record.
In any case, RVP improves all of the swuads. Moreover, he probably makes Juventus true CL contenders and Madrid CL favorites.
