I largely think Nedved won it because Juve made it to the CL final that year, whereas Henry's Arsenal didn't make it out of that group (Roma were bottom of that one btw )
blame Wenger, he never really figured out a formula to compete in European football
Hey he did get you guys to a final in 06 at least. EDF almost got us to one as well.
Not sure Emery or Fonseca can do one better than those achievements though.
feel we rode our luck in that campaign, especially against Villarreal who should have been the easiest opponent.
For some reason we were really defensively solid during that knockout phase though, so credit has to go to that
Could possibly have won the whole damn thing though if you really think about it, if not for our ridiculous high-line and Jens' mad moment (which you can forgive him for because of the high-line tbh)
- and if Henry actually put away two very good chances regardless of the sending off
- and Almunia conceding two at his near post
man was such a heartbreaking night all through and through, we really could have won
Thinking about it now, Henry actually went and did a Kevin Durant ffs pos
still the best PL player of all-time though

Yes, but Totti too
Roberto Baggio was considered the best player in the world for a couple of years and carried his teams... BdO winner in 1993 and runner up in 1994.
I love Totti but Baggio was one level above him.

Wouldn't lie, a proper Jjuve fan in Rincon saying Totti is better than Del Piero is really unpopular. That's burn at stake stuff in the world of Juventus.

Calciopoli was too rough on juventus, or it was too easy on milan im not sure.
Abate is pretty good, but I think messi might be a little better than him.
Huntsman was great, he rocked the forums. He is a better troll than cyberman.
Solid post. Close call on the whole Abate vs Messi thing from back in the day.

Ramos is a legend, generational player. You don't see defenders with so much heart nowadays which is a shame.

Re: The unpopular opinion thread
Ramos is a big game player NOW (he was a calamity for half his career at Madrid to be clear)... but he's cost us a lot in other games still today.
You can't deny his leadership, emotion and big moments. But the dude really isn't a great defender. He's not. I'll keep saying it regardless of backlash.
He's most known for the goals he scores and his PKs... as a CB.

Re: The unpopular opinion thread
What leadership? Ramos being a leader is funny almost as funny calling cr a leader, both these guys are selfish, especially cr we all know is a glory Hunter and brand builder.
Ramos exposed himself last season by taking penalties, when he knew that goals for the forwards were much more important in cr absence, but obviously he wanted to pad his stats and build his brand up, I'm not denying the importance of his goals, but I don't see how goals equal leadership, similar dribbling equals one player being better than other? Makes no sense only became a thing in recent years.
If Ramos was a real leader focus on defending, then the back line would be much more organized, he wouldn't make so many mistakes trying to show off, Marcelo and carvajal are both undisciplined, a lot of players on the team are especially the young kids, like vini who clearly cares about social media more than winning games, that where leadership should come in to help him focus, but it's no where to be seen cause Ramos is the same and he is supposed to be the leader.
There is no real leadership on the team since xabi left.

There is no real leadership on the team since xabi left, scoring goals as team captain doesn't make you a leader, when your easily one of the most undisciplined players on the team yourself .

Re: The unpopular opinion thread
Lowkey don't rate Mbappe, a lot of his positives are chalked down to his physical attributes, mainly his speed. He isn't an out and out pure striker and he doesn't function like one, often times he's paired with a striker. Hence, managers tend to better utilize his pace to get past defenders.
Granted i havent seen a lot of games, but i dont think longevity is in the future of his career, injuries or age will cripple him. That is, if a certain Spanish club doesn't take him and chuck him as a lone striker. Then we'll have a certain resident poster collect the 5 infinity stones of Higuain, Jovic, Morata, CR, and now Mbappe

Why change up now? Because haaland is more safer bet to compete with benzema directly than mbappe? That the only concern that seems to be bothering you lot, as long as benzema is at the club he won't be benched, either they pair up or he leaves, so it won't matter so you don't have to be down on mbappe suddenly cause your worried about benzema still starting and playing great, we all know can't have that going for another season am I right?

My unpopolar opinion is : Totti > Baggio
It's hard to find who agrees wth me in Italy, and imagine same abroad.
But it's my thought.

Didn't CR have similar critique in his earlier years? Not insinuating that Mbappe will reach a similar level (he may/may not) but the other parts will likely develop as his career does; he seems to have a reasonable amount of football intelligence.

Re: The unpopular opinion thread
He did, and I think the criticism towards CR was very fair. Despite all of his talent, he wasted a lot of time showing off and slowing down counter-attacks. He also didn't have the positional awareness and polished finishing technique that he's acquired since then.
Ideally, I wish he had more of the flair and youthfulness that he had earlier in his career, coupled with the effectivity and experience that he built up as he approached his late 20s. Above all else, it's the effectivity that matters.
