Yeah, Shelvey's been doing quite all right at Swansea. However, he's playing CAM there and I'd rather have a pure CM. In any case I'd certainly like him better than Alberto, Shelvey has showed this season that he is capable of playing regularly in the Prem. I don't know if Alberto has more potential, but it does feel like we've taken a step backwards when replacing Jonjo with Alberto.

Kind of awkward that we're looking at an attacker when center of midfield is the glaring hole in the team.

It will, however, be interesting to see our accounts from last season, this is the time when clubs are publishing them. If I remember right our losses have been financed with bank loans that had climbed up to £80m in our previous accounts. I mean, it's easy to spend money if you're willing to just loan that money against the club's assets. That's not really spending your own money.

Exactly. We've got Moses and Ibe on the bench, possibly Coutinho or Sterling, too, if we're playing with 3 CMs, who can play on the wings. Yet in the last two games we've had two fit CMs and none on the bench.

I think we can not question about the way FSG are working with our club at least on the current situation. As Stivie had mentioned in the other thread, from being on the brink of administration to a somewhat healthy place where we are continuously trying to increase our sources of revenue, there are some massive steps being taken in the right direction. I certainly wont blame FSG for this window.

For me only Ayre's responsibility is somewhat questionable but I would like to give him one more window to prove me wrong. I think it is his+commitee's(probably BR too) responsibility to convince FSG if they want to some player and to decide if it is OK to pay 3-4 m above the market value in case we need that signing so desperately. So I will wait till summer window to decide when we will have no choice but to fill some positions.

no doubt Skrtel has been to his best this season, inb4 he gives a penalty. What I would appreciate is his ball playing ability has also improved massively, specially his confidence with the ball. He manages to find the RB or some midfielder on a constistent basis. But still that ability is not so near to Agger/sakho...but it is also true that we sometimes overrate this 'ball playing shit' about defenders; for me the priority will be to defend first. Although I believe so, to see the best of him, he needs to be paired with someone like Sakho/Dagger.

MAJORITY of every defender out there (in the league + in Europe) pulls shirts whilst defending set pieces. That includes the likes of Kompany and much more. Skrtel's been at "risk" for shirt pulling for the last month or so and not one decision has gone against him, it's because they'd be 2+ penalties every single game.

Judging off youtube, seem's like a winger. A skillful one, at that.

Not exactly a midfielder type player that we need... but is he a goalscoring threat? Can he help SAS take the goal burden off of them? Is he creative?

well I have seen him mostly playing in Europa league and Ukranian NT, where he looked not only creative, but enough pace and movement, specially his control with the ball, dribbling in close spaces. He is also hard working and can shoot from distance unlike our other current players.

Well he has 3 goals and 3 assists in Europa league, one which I saw against Fiorentina
