Is Ozils spot in danger?
Is Ozils starting spot for Germany now in jeopardy considering Gotze now plays for the more prestigious, bigger club? This is assuming Gotze performs at his normal Dortmund-levels when he gets back from injury.

Just a question. And im not hating on Arsenal btw. Theyre my favorite english team as a matter of fact. But Bayern are certainly the bigger club.

Gotze's place is the one in danger if he keeps this level of performance for Bayern and getting injured. If anything Ozil has a even bigger chance of starting for Germany since he will be starting week and week out for Arsneal unlike at Madrid.

ozil is playing cl football, who cares if goetze he is playing for bayern? as long as both players are playing at the highest level it doesnt matter, the only thing that matters is the players individual performances.juventus101 wrote:Just a question. Re: Is Ozils spot in danger?
I have serious doubts about whether Goetze will start, let alone be used properly.
Also I would add that even though Oezil is playing for the least prestigious side, he's playing against better opposition in a weekly basis.

Ozil is Germany's best player and a Top 10 player at worst.
Gotze is a nobody and is in danger of being a bench player for both club and country.

Gotze has struggled to find his way at Bayern so far.
where Ozil looked pretty damn good for Arsenal.
don't see why Ozil would lose his spot? you haven't watched Gotze with Bayern this season it seems.

Götze's place is in more danger. He's not as experienced and in more danger to face rotation at his club than Özil.

Arsenal are still a big enough team anyway. It's not like he's moved to an unknown team. His reputation will obviously help though.

No, It's not. If anything, it'll help him cement his spot.

Peps dismantling of Bayern will be good for Özil, if anything. And from the way Löw has regarded his players in the past, Özil needs to be wary of Kroos more than he does of Götze.

Re: Is Ozils spot in danger?
Is Gotze even going to start for Bayern? I don't think it's in any danger at all - once Ozil adjusts to the pace and physicality the nature of the PL will suit him better.
Might be a problem for Germany though, he could be burnt out at the end of the year.

Re: Is Ozils spot in danger?
Gotze had only recovered from the thigh injury he sustained against Madrid (last April) about a month ago. He was re-injured against Chelsea, albeit this time it wasn't his thigh it was his ankle and he was out for 3-4 weeks. He will be back by the end of September if everything goes according to plan.
Regarding the topic, no Ozil's spot is not in danger atm. First and foremost Gotze is still injured and it will take a while until he is match fit. Secondly, Gotze will have to adapt to a different playing style and he hasn't had much match practice to do so. Thirdly, Gotze's position on the team is still unclear, if Pep continues with the 4-1-4-1 Bayern are currently playing, then Gotze will probably be played as a CM in a 4-1-4-1. And, I'm sure most of you know that is not his ideal position and from the games I did watch earlier this season he did not look convincing at all there. Perhaps it was due to him not being match fit or lacking sharpness, but he was disappointing in that position and he is best used higher up the pitch. I do think he will start for Bayern, but I think it will only come once Pep realizes his 4-1-4-1 is a mess and he will find the need to revert back to a 4-2-3-1 and play Gotze as a CAM, his ideal position or use a false 9; play Gotze there and drop Mandzukic. Although it's unlikely that Pep changes formation or plays Gotze as a false 9. Perhaps Gotze will do well in that 4-1-4-1 and my original assumption of him disappointing as a CM was merely exaggerated since he was not match fit.
So I'm not sure what you are exactly on about tbh, Ozil's position is not in danger atm and it is especially not in danger against the likes of Gotze since his situation at the moment is unclear. Like Viva said Ozil's position is more in danger by the likes of Kroos who Loew favors and not Gotze.
Speaking of Ozil and Gotze, IMO they're both very similar in terms of playing style I think the biggest difference is that, Gotze is flashier as well as being more of a hard worker, compared to Ozil. I remember reading an article which wrote that Gotze (12-13) and Ozil (Mourinho era) were tactical twins and the way they both played was similar. And, that the question which would decide the tie (BVB-RM CL Semis 2013) was whether Gotze would be able to outOzil, Ozil.
