Di Canio fumes as Sunderland lose to U-21 side Empty Di Canio fumes as Sunderland lose to U-21 side

Post by REWB Mon Sep 09, 2013 12:30 am

Paolo di Canio had another of his regular explosions after his Sunderland side lost 3-1 in a behind-closed-doors game against the club's Under-21 development team.
The Mirror reported di Canio organised the practice match to give his senior players a proper workout during the international break but that the exercise went horribly wrong.
The newspaper said that di Canio was "so incensed by the performance that he went over the game in detail afterwards and also told all the players not to mention the match had even happened".

The issue is Di Canio, he's a bomb waiting to go off. Great influx of energy to survive a relegation scrap, but he's also the coach that'll get you into the relegation scrap in the first place. Should of been a short term solution.

So who will be Sunderland's manager come January?

His "raging" management style probably won't work for too long. I mean, if the manager goes berserk every time an individual or the team perform poorly, that's going to destroy their morale and he'll just lose the dressing room. It works when you do it occasionally, but if Di Canio's doing it every week the players will eventually unite against him, especially since he hasn't achieved much as a manager yet.

I wrote this in the other Di Canio thread a couple of weeks ago where it never got a reply, lol, but I don't think he did that well in the summer window, just added quantity over quality.

Slow day at the mirror.

Majority of the team are either injured or away on international duty.

Reserve team loses to reserve team is hardly news.

Be reporting how the team performed running around a set of cones next.

I wouldn't put too much notice on those games between the first and reserve team

I remember during the summer when the Castilla team smashed the first team which included Ronaldo and co winning 6-1 or 6-2 or whatever absurd number it was lmao

however their start to the league has been rather worrying tho

Wickham pulled out of playing for Eng u21s, through injury.
Ki was away with south korea
Brown is injured
Dossena is injured
Gardner has a groin injury

My original point still stands

Dossena is a glorified ball boy who's used a combination of dark magick and underhanded deals to secure himself a career in football tbh.

He's a joke and any team with an average of >15 but <65 is better off without him.

they play the ball much down the flanks wide and cross

predictable team and easy to counter, no serious plan whatsoever

However, you Sunderland fans must be somewhat worried about Di Canio's style, your squad and did he reinforce it as well as possible. It's not looking great right now.

Its 3 games into the season give him and the players a chance. We played quite well against Fulham and were rather unlucky. Got a point against Southampton. We didn't do too bad against palace even until like the 80th min when they got the penalty.

We still have our main front 2 of Fletch and Altidore to play with each other yet.
His style is allot better than what we played under MoN and Bruce.

Niall, aren't you worried that your next 6 home against are all against top sides ?
Of course you're capable of making a couple of surprises, but I think PDC need to pick up a few wins on the road until mid-November to keep the team out of the relegation zone.

That Fulham game must hurt. They are one of the worst teams in the league (I don't rate Jol at all), and even worse on the road. and you dominated them until their fluky goal.
