I hope we use the Capital One Cup to experiment with 3 at the back. With all that quality why not at least give it a go? With Vertoghen on the left, Dawson/Kaboul in the Center, and Chiriches on the right we more than have the quality to make it work.

I'm still not a fan of these lineups, because our issue seems to be a central play maker, we have creative wing players in spades. Our only real central play makers will be Eriksen, Holtby, and Dembele.

I would go with:

Chadli-----Eriksen-----Lamela
-----Dembele----Paulinho----
Rose---Vert--Dawson--Walker

However, the number of tactics we could run with the depth of our squad is infinite. We could realistically make a challenge for the title in every competition we compete in.

I think GL users should know that Chiriches played on the right side would be a waste of time. He is most efficent as a center-back. I think Vertonghen, Chiri, Dawson should be rotated.

Garay is not flashy, but he cleans up everything at the back at benfica. He has started carrying Luisao as well, and the amount of ground he covers back there is impressive. His style is very sober, calm, and poised. Doesnt run and busts nuts like Mangala but he is better. if we didnt have a clause to deny you his signing, he would be at barca already

Monaco obviously dont want it but the player wanted it. Nothing Monaco can do if a player they want so bad is asking for such a clause in his contract. Still it shows the massive pulling power Madrid have and over the likes of cash rich Monaco it is just terrifying lol

I would be impressed if it wasn't a 19 year old French kid who no one wants because his agent is Mendes. Who as it so happens organizes these stupid deals for us all the time, because of that 30 million we will inevitably pay - he will pocket 20 for himself.

I just find it unlikely that Kondogbia would refuse a move to Monaco if they flat out rejected his request.

Staying in a weakened Sevilla side, playing for no silverware and on an average wage compared to going to tax free Monaco, living a life of luxury, competing for trophies and making insane $$ whilst he's at it.

Probably a case of him asking Monaco for it, and them not really caring one way or ther other and agreeing.

All you said here is he is Benfica's best defender...nothing else.

Carrying Luisao? Not really...but even if so, its about time aint it? Luisao is 33 or something.

Garay would be at Barca? Not a great endorsement considering all the great centerbacks we already signed.

He's slow, cant play in a high line and can be taken in the 1 v 1 with anyone with a bit of imagination and speed. Also, pretty poor in the air for his size.

And dont make out like Mangala is some wreckless maniac who dont know what he is doing. He isnt.

how high should the line be, because Benfica in la liga and europe push up pretty high, yet he is always covering the LB and his own position quite well. He isnt explosive yet with his size he catches up to players quite well. I dont see him weak in the air at all.

im not saying that mangala is a maniac, but he is a superb athlete and that's how he defends. catches to his mistake with his speed rather than his ability to read the game. He will get caught out with passes but make up with his pace. And yeah, probably a bad idea to let him touch the ball.
