National league vs CL? What means more to you?
As a fan of your team, what means more to you:
The national league or European Football?
Lets say you are a Arsenal fan. Are you more fired up for a PL-clash against Man United or a CL-match against Barcelona? What are you most excited about? Or if you are a Juve-fan. Would you rather beat Milan in Serie A or win against Real Madrid in a CL-match?
I feel like in England, that the PL means more than CL. I dont know how it is in Italy, Germany, Spain etc.
This question belongs to GD, not the right-back section.

I think it depends on which of my teams I'm talking about. If it's Roma or Spurs I just want them to win the league and make a good showing in the Champions League. If it's Bayern I want them to take over the world

IT's depend of the team you support. But basically National league is more important than CL imo .

It's all about prestige... CL > National League as a whole
No individual game means more to me than El Clasico though

both mean the same to me, arsenals fans would take any trophy atm. Even the carling cup is as prestigious as the Cl to arsenal fans atm, do you know how happy i will be if we win the carling cup?

Best teams in the world are in the CL, but a league has a ton of matches. Still, CL brings the biggest joy cause when the knock-out fases begin, every game is like a final, and I like that passion displayed.

Re: National league vs CL? What means more to you?
It depends on the team, imo.
For teams like United, Barca, Madrid, Bayern etc CL means more. They've dominated the domestic game and are expected to win the domestic league, but with as many teams in the CL you can't ever expect any of those teams to win it. They can be the favorites but theres never a clear winner before it even begins.
And for teams outside the top teams, because its a knock out competition, random things can happen where people can write off their win as a fluke or something. Kind of like Chelsea's CL win and to some extent even liverpools I've heard people say "psh they were lucky to win" etc.
I'd personally be happier to see arsenal to have a season full of success and winning week by week, and win the bpl, rather than go on a random hot streak and somehow manage to win the CL.

Being,a. Madrid fan, it's obvious that the Tenth is higher up my wish list than the 32nd.
But the armchair Liverpool fan in me wants to see StevieG lift the EPL before he retires....

Schalke certainly would want to win the BL first of all as then the Dortmund fans can't ridicule them anymore with "50 years no BL" (literally "50 Jahre ohne Schale").

Re: National league vs CL? What means more to you?
More fired up for CL matches if the opposition is good. CL is the GOAT spectacle in football. I wouldn't say it means more to me than the league, though. You can win a knockout tournament and not have been the best team, I feel like if you win the league the opposite is generally true.

Winning the EPL is United's priority.

Juve/Man United fans will always say Serie A/PL, because they are great in that competition, while they suck historically in CL. Milan/Liverpool is the opposite.

Re: National league vs CL? What means more to you?
Milan and Liverpool will say the opposite because they never challenge for the league. Pool have one sustained challenge in the last 20 years. United reached 2 cl finals in a row and on cl final in 2011. Milan one the league once since early 2000s. So yea. United can afford to do the double, Pool can only concentrate on the cl because they don't have a chance in hell of winning the league.AltoZ wrote:Juve/Man United fans will always say Serie A/PL, because they are great in that competition, while they suck historically in CL. Yeah and we have bottled it in finals, but getting to the final isn't just something that's casually done. This isn't the league cup ffs.
Underachieved? Yeah
Suck? No.

Nottingham Forest has as many EC's as Juventus
Man United has won 2 of their 3 EC's on pure luck.

So unless you win the CL consistantly you suck at it?

Apparantly getting to a final is no different from finishing 4th in the group stages tbh

Re: National league vs CL? What means more to you?
Winning your domestic league is harder than winning the CL.Deal with it.Milan's recent CL wins came when they were barely challenging for the league.
But nowadays the level of play is so shit in Serie A that it doesnt really mean anything. You have to perform(win) the CL to gain that respect and prestige.
From a Serie A point of view.
