Papers: Ronaldo set to sign?
02/08/2013 07:35
The Daily Star’s Duncan Wright reports...
United on the brink of Ronaldo reunion
United and Real Madrid have spent the past 12 days negotiating an £80m package – and the Premier League champions are increasingly confident of getting their man. David Moyes made his move two weeks ago when the club heard through the grapevine Madrid had stepped up their interest in signing Gareth Bale. And for the first time they found their Spanish rivals prepared to negotiate after the player told them he would be interested in returning to England. New United chief executive Ed Woodward made contact with Real president Florentino Perez in the knowledge Ronaldo had yet to agree and extension to his current deal at the Bernabau which has just two years left to run. “United and Real Madrid have spent the past 12 days negotiating an £80m package for Ronaldo” Starsport understands Perez then sought assurances Ronaldo would commit to the new deal – and was stunned to learn he was keen on returning to Manchester instead. That forced them to open up to United’s advances, knowing they would only get a fraction of the fee for one of the world’s best players if he stayed another season. It also explains why they are prepared to break the world record to ensure they clinch the signing of Bale in an effort to appease fans worried by Ronaldo’s departure.
This perfectly make sense. May be Ed Woodward is still in Spain not for Cesc after all.

Re: Cristiano is coming home
Should've never left. For all the contributions he's made in the last 4 years it has resulted in only 2 trophies in the last 4 years with one of them being a mickey-mouse cup.
He would've had 6 EPL titles by now to his name easy and probably another CL too.

utd were runaway lge winners and had madrid game plan to a tee before nani had a brainfart.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:So have Arsenal tbf.... they signed that Sanago.

utd dont need 245m bale or 475m naymar, buying in positions we dont need. kagawa has an extra year, adan [ who shits on pogba at the same age..but ill be laughed at..the same way they laughed at me when bigging up said pogba ] to come in as an attacking wide player..
we need 1 midfielder and the right midfielder.. 1 signing for united would be more significant than arsenal signing 3/4 because arsenal need more than 3/4.
this football manager generation sickens me..all twitter twitter twitter..
we were def gonna sign thiago..talking to him every day. thiago comes out and says utd never even picked up a phone..omg utd couldnt sign thiago lol!!!!

They have a better chance than Liverpool do with that bullhead clown Rodgers in charge.

Calderon on Sky Sports saying Perez told Ronaldo to give him the money to buy out his release clause and he would use it to sign Messi, which upset Ronaldo immensely

Calderon is hardly a reliable source, but if there's even a colonel of truth, Grande Florentino
