They've also contacted for Remy, according to Sky Italia. However he's close to joining Newcastle.

In that summary i posted Di Marzio says both Di Maria and Modric are not interested in joining Spurs.
So i guess they might have to increase the cash offer if they(Madrid) want him(Bale).

Would be a great pick up for Stoke if they were able to make that happen. Considering they are most likely only going to be able to score on the counter the idea of Shea and Defoe using that turbo button on the counter could work out well for them. I said this earlier in the summer that Arsenal are in a tricky position in the market, because their squad has very good quality throughout. Not necessarily world-class, but it's not easy to improve their squad. They don't need depth either. They could easily sign a 20m player and notice 10 games into the season that that player isn't any better than the ones they already had for his position.

I agree, they need a higher calibre of player to lift their team- not just a 20m player.

They lack a quality GK, a CF and have no physical presence in the midfield. If not for the latter, they don't have a proper defensive midfielder either. So yeah.. they DON'T have good quality throughout. But obviously Wenger knows more than us.

If it was upto me.. I would've gone ahead and bought Caballero, Luiz Gustavo and Gameiro.
