Re: RIP Christian Benitez
New here.
Very shocked by his loss. I am from Ecuadorian decent...he was suppose to carry us to the knockout rounds in brazil. Hopefully the team can recover...and push on. Great talent just needed to learn how to finish

Wow absolutely gutted by this news. So young
I remember when he scored against Liverpool for Birmingham, I thought he was a very decent player.

Rest In Peace
Former Birmingham striker Christian Benitez has died at the age of 27. The Ecuador international was admitted to hospital with severe stomach pains shortly after making his debut for Qatari side El Jaish on Sunday.
His heart failed hours later, the Ecuador Football Federation said.
Rest In Peace

Re: RIP Christian Benitez
Wow.. Just wow.. lost for words.. In the words of Antonio Valencia his countryman, "Porque hoy dios??"
Ecuadorian FA held a press conference today and the NT coach, Reinaldo Rueda couldn't fight back his tears. This is probably a tumultuous time for Rueda as his dad died like two days ago. Ecuador sit in 2nd place iirc or 3rd.. they should see their remaining games out and qualify, but this is a tough loss on the field and off the field as he was a true leader and warrior.

Re: RIP Christian Benitez
Its crazy. He had such a strong personalty too. When he was on the field your eyes were always locked on him. Way too soon for him. Wish his family the best.REWB wrote:wow how does someone so young and fit get a heart attack? incredible. rip

Shocking new honestly....my thoughts are with his family and the Ecuadorean people.
RIP and with this, he has joined the ultimately tragic 27 club.

Re: RIP Christian Benitez
I'll always remember him for how he ripped Liverpool apart when he was in Birmingham. Same game where N'gog made THAT dive which drew us 2-2.
Thoughts go with his friends and family.
Died all too young. RIP Chucho.
